ST. ANNE CHURCH
FRENCH VILLAGE, MO.
Joe
Mondello will have a meeting for all the servers after Mass this morning, December 12th.
Stewardship Awareness
"Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind
regain their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, and the dead are
raised
" MATTHEW 11:4-5
When Jesus cured the sick we called it a miracle. Yet
God has blessed us with many good things our eyesight, our hearing, our talents,
our health and so much more and we often take it all for granted. The good steward
recognizes every blessing in life as a miracle from God and strives to use those gifts for
Gods honor and glory.
Advent Day of Recollection
All are invited to join Archbishop Carlson and the
parishioners of the Cathedral Basilica for an Advent Day of Recollection on Saturday,
December 18, 2010, beginning at 10:00 a.m. and ending with evening Mass at 5:00 p.m.
Advance registration is requested so that organizers can properly prepare worship
materials and set up for lunch. A good will offering will be accepted to offset the cost
of lunch. Please call Laura at
314-373-8208 to register.
Race Into the New Year
You are invited to join the St. Pius X
Booster Club on December 31st for Dancing and a Midnight Toast to Welcome 2011
at the Ralph Boyer Gym. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Special prizes will be awarded
for "Derby Attire". The $15 charge includes beer, wine, setups and snacks.
Please call 636-931-PIUS to make your reservations.
Blanket Collection
Rev. Larry Rice is collecting blankets for
the needy. The blankets will be delivered to the New Life Evangelitic Center on December
18th. Please bring your blanket to the Church hall by Friday, December 17th. Thank you for
your help and generous donation of a blanket for this worthy cause.
Prayer for Advent
Dear God,
As an Advent candle is lit in joyous anticipation of
your Sons nativity, remind us always of the reason for our joy. As the purple of the
candles stand for both penance and atonement for sin, give us the grace to do penance for
our wrongs, and to love Christ, whose sacrifice atoned for the sins of the whole
world. But just as the rose candle stands
for joy in the midst of suffering and expectation, give us the joy of your Son, Jesus
Christ, Who came into a world that had so longed for its Savior, and made the angels
themselves sing with joy at His birth.
Amen.
Penance Services
Advent resounds with the theme of reconciliation and the
call to repentance. That call is not about dwelling on our sins and being even more
burdened by them, but the opposite: bringing them to God in sorrow and hope for
forgiveness.
The Advent reconciliation services available are:
December 14 St. James
Potosi 7:00 p.m.
December 21 St. Stephen
Richwoods 7:00 p.m.
EWTN
Join EWTN this Christmas season to celebrate the special
gift of love and hope Christs birth brings. See live Masses from around the world
including Rome and the National Shrine in Washington, DC. The listing of Program
Highlights for the Winter 2010-2011, including the special Christmas programs, is
