School News
In November the classes will have Penny Wars. Pennies
are valuable and count as positive numbers, while silver coins negate the pennies. The
idea is to put pennies in your classes jar, but put silver in the other
classes jars. The funds collected will be donated to the Missions. Family and
friends are encouraged to help their favorite student raise money for the Missions.
Veterans Day
Please remember to pray for our young people serving in
the Armed Forces today, and the many veterans of the past who have given so much of
themselves including their lives so that we may enjoy our freedom.
Donut Sunday
We invite you to come and enjoy fellowship with your
Church family this morning, along with thecoffee, donuts and orange juice.
St. Joseph Gift Shop
The Gift Shop is open every Sunday before and after the
10:00 a.m. Mass. Stop by for that special gift or place an order for the upcoming
holidays.

FRENCH VILLAGE, MO.
Stewardship
Awareness
"May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our
Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting encouragement and good hope through His
grace, encourage your hearts and strengthen them in every good deed and word."
2 THESSALONIANS 2:16-17
God wants us to know the joy of giving. Yet, being
generous takes strength and trust and grace. Thats why St. Paul reminds us to turn
to God every day for encouragement and guidance on our stewardship journey.
Thank you to everyone
who has returned their stewardship intention cards. If you have not done so, please return
your card in the collection basket or drop it off at the Parish Office. Our telephone
committee will make follow up calls in an effort to meet our goal of 100% participation.
Retirement Fund for Religious
Aging religious need your help. Senior Catholic sisters,
brothers, and religious order priests offered their lives in service to others-educating
the young, comforting the sick, seeking justice for the oppressed. Today, many are frail,
elderly, and in need of assistance. Your gift to the Retirement Fund for Religious
supports basic necessities such as prescription drugs and nursing care. Please give
generously to todays second collection.
Christmas Basket Program
The Bonne Terre Ministerial Alliance will sponsor a
Christmas Basket Program this year, which will provide food for those in our community who
need help. If you know someone who needs assistance, please tell them that it will be
necessary to register in person at our Church Hall between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and
11:00 a.m. on Mondays and Fridays in November. Food and/or donations will be appreciated
and will help fund these Christmas gifts.
Daughters of Isabella
The monthly meeting for the Daughters of
Isabella will be held on Monday, November 8th. There will be no dinner preceding the
meeting. The Rosary will start at 6:45 p.m. and will be followed by the meeting.
Parish Mission
"The Privilege of Being Catholic"
(What It Means To Be Catholic)
December 4th through
December 9th,2010
Our Parish Mission hosted by the parishes
of St. Joseph St. Anne will begin with the Saturday evening Mass. Fr. Lukefahr will
speak at all the Masses for the weekend. The topic for the weekend homily will be
"Where Is God". The mission will begin on Sunday, December 5, 2010, at 7:00 p.m.
Each evening session will begin at 7:00 p.m. and end at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening will
include the Penance Service. Each evening Father Oscar will be available for 15-20 minutes
for an optional Question & Answer period, where people are invited to ask any
questions about the Bible or Catholic teaching. A simple evening meal will be offered each
evening. We have five teams that will prepare and serve the meal. Serving begins at
5:30 p.m. Babysitting will be available for parents with young children.
Please invite any and all inactive Catholic friends and family to attend the mission.
Emphasize the fact that the mission asks inactive Catholics to take another look at the
Church, and to realize that Christ wants them to "return home". If you would
like someone to receive a personal invitation, please contact the parish office with the
information. If you know someone who hesitates to drive in the evening, please offer to
share a ride.
Please pray for the success of the mission and remember
to block off the time.
Quilt Bingo
St. James Church in Potosi, MO. will have a Quilt Bingo
on Sunday, November 21, 2010. The doors will open at 11:30 a.m. and the games will begin
at 1:00 p.m. for quilts and cash. Attendance prizes of free turkeys will be given away.
All proceeds will be used for Religious Education of youth and adults. If you have any
questions, please call 573-438-4686 or 1-888-868-8188.
