Stewardship Awareness
"And how could a thing remain, unless you willed
it; or be preserved, had it not been called forth by you?" WISDOM 11:25
These words from the Book of Wisdom, remind us that
every single gift, skill, talent or blessing that we have has been called forth for us
from God. The incredible abundance that surrounds us is all given to us by our heavenly
Father for a reason. These gifts are not given for us to hoard but rather for us to share.
Thank you to everyone who has returned
their stewardship intention cards. If you have not done so, please return your card in the
collection basket or drop it off at the Parish Office. Our telephone committee will now
make follow up calls in an effort to meet our goal of 100% participation by our
parishioners.
Eucharistic Adoration
"The Eucharist is a priceless treasure: by not only
celebrating it but also by praying before it outside of Mass we are enabled to make
contact with the very wellspring of grace." Pope John Paul II
The celebration of the
Eucharistic Adoration will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, November 5th, and conclude with
the Benediction at 5:00 p.m. Please sign up for your time to be spent
with the Lord.
Knights of Columbus
Come and enjoy our famous Chicken & Dumpling Dinner
on Thursday, November 4, 2010, at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Berry Road. These
delicious dinners are all you can eat in house and serving will start at 3:30 p.m. and
continue until 6:30 p.m.
Parish Mission
Please mark your calendars. The Parish Mission begins on
Sunday, December 5, 2010, at 7:00 p.m.
Father Oscar Lukefahr is a Vincentian priest living in
Perryville, MO. Ordained in 1966, he taught in seminaries and high schools for 6 years,
then served as a parish priest for 19 years. In 1991 he was appointed director of Catholic
Home Study Service, a program offering free correspondence courses on the Catholic Faith.
Fr. Lukefahr also gives parish missions and retreats, celebrates weekend liturgies at
various parishes, and teaches religious education classes for adults, teens and children.
Fr. Lukefahr is the author of nine books and workbooks:
"We Believe
" A Survey of the Catholic Faith; We Live, to Know, Love and
Serve God; We Pray: Living in Gods Presence; We
Worship: A Guide to the Catholic Mass; The Search for Happiness; A Catholic Guide to the
Bible; The Privilege of Being Catholic; Christs Mother and Ours; and The Catechism
Handbook.
In a parish mission, using humor and practical examples,
Fr. Lukefahr emphasizes the sacramental life of the Catholic Church. Knowing Jesus and our
Catholic Faith can bring us to know Jesus better, appreciate our Faith more, and share it
with others.
I encourage you to invite someone to join us.
Retirement Fund for Religious
"As expenses continue to increase and economic
difficulties tighten our income, we appreciate more and more the help of the Retirement
Fund," notes a woman religious. Your tax-deductible donation to the Retirement Fund
for Religious supports the day-to-day care of thousands of elder sisters, brothers, and
religious order priests. Please Share in the Care and give generously to next weeks
second collection.
Wedding Anniversary
Please join us in congratulating Leo and
Mary Carol Schmittgens as they celebrate their 60thwedding anniversary. We wish them many
more years of happiness and blessings.
