solid and straightforward answers to the important questions and problems facing Catholics
today.
A special presentation will be made about Liguorian Magazine at each Mass next weekend and subscription
envelopes will be distributed. Catholic reading is important for people of all ages. It
provides guidance, answers, education and inspiration. We highly recommend Liguorian and hope that you will subscribe next weekend.

ST. ANNE CHURCH
FRENCH VILLAGE, MO.
As we approach the holiday season are you willing to do something
kind for your less fortunate brother?
The local St.Vincent de Paul Society helps feed the needy of our
area. They respond to the needs of those living in Bonne Terre and northern St. Francois
county.
We need your help!! As the saying goes "Ole Mother
Hubbards cupboard is bare." A box has been placed in the back of church. If you
would like to help, please place your canned goods in this box. They will be taken to the
St. Vincent de Paul and distributed to the hungry.
Thank you for your kind showing of support.
P.S.R.
All students, grades 7 through 12 are invited to a Bible Study and
a planned "Special Activity" on Sunday, November 4, 2007. We will begin after
the 10:00am Mass. If you are now attending the PSR classes you DO NOT have to call before
you attend the Bible Study. If you are NOT attending the PSR classes then please call
Gretchen Pratte at 573-358-5876.
Eucharistic Adoration
Our monthly first Friday, Eucharistic Adoration will begin at
8:30am on Friday, November 2, 2007. This day is also the Commemoration of all the Faithful
Departed. Some call it (All Souls Day). It is not a Holy day of Obligation. If you cannot
attend Mass, please stop by and say a prayer for those departed. Benediction at 5:00pm.
You Are Invited!!!!!
I would like to extend an invitation to the children of St.
Joseph/St. Anne to stop by my patio on Halloween Evening. Dad, Stony, and myself along
with a special guest will be on the patio after 6:00pm to greet you. In the past I have
gotten to see the children that attend our school. This year I extend an i9nvitation to
all the children of the neighborhood. We cant wait to see all the goblins and gools.
St. Joseph Gift Shop
We have a lovely "Gift Shop" in the back of church. It
is open before and after the 10:00am Mass every Sunday. If you are looking for that
special gift for someone you just might find it there. Soon we will be coming into the
season of Advent. Do you have an Advent wreath at home? This would be a wonderful idea for
someone as a housewarming gift.
Feast Days in November
November 2, the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed,
dovetails with November 1, the Feast of All Saints. The saints, our models of Christian
living, are one with God in heaven. All the faithful departed are those who have died with
hope and trust in a loving God who calls us to greater growth and development, even beyond
death. This growth and development occurs in a state of being that we have traditionally
called Purgatory.
While the Western Church has emphasized the cleansing and
purifying nature of Purgatory, the Eastern Orthodox Church has emphasized the growth and
development aspect of it. Today, belief in Purgatory allows one who has died in Christ to
continue growing and developing before meeting God face to face. God continually invites
communion with these loved ones, but some feel the need to continue growing and developing
before entering into full communion with God.
These November feasts vividly remind
us of the rich reality known as the Communion of Saints. This belief stresses the strong
affirmation that the Church is always one in Christ. Death does not sever any of the bonds
that unite us in Christ. That is why it is a fitting practice to pray for the dead and to
ask them to pray for us. Just as we do that for each other when we are alive, so, to, do
we continue that bond and concern for each other even beyond death.
