Don Schmidt will be formally installed in the Ministry of Lector
at 10:00a.m., Saturday, October 12th at Blessed John XXIII Chapel, 8300
Morganford Ave. St. Louis, Mo. Rev. Msgr. Richard F. Stika, Vicar General of the
Archdiocese of St. Louis, will be the celebrant. All parishioners are invited.
The Ministry of Lector is a formal lay ministry in the Catholic
Church. There are three steps necessary for Ordination to the Permanent Diaconate. The
first is "Candidacy",or acceptance to be a candidate for the Diaconate, the
second is "Lector", and the third is "Acoloyte".
The formally installed Lector proclaims Gods Word in the
liturgical celebrations of the Church and is responsible for spreading the Good News to
those who seek the Lord and the truths of the Church.
Don is a member of St. Anne Church, but will be ordained to serve both St. Joseph and St.
Anne.

The Class of 2003 requests your prayers in its continuing preparation toward
ordination to the Diaconate on June 7, 2003. They also wish to express thanks to their
families, friends, pastors and others responsible for bringing them to this permanent
commitment of service to the Church.

The month of October is known as "The Rosary for Women Month".
The Daughters of Isabelle would like to invite all the ladies
of St. Anne and St. Joseph to come and say the rosary in community. To accommodate most
people we will recite the rosary on Oct. 9th and 23rd at 7:00p.m.,
and also on Oct. 16th at 8:30a.m. following morning Mass.
All are welcome to come to the Church Hall for refreshments
and fellowship.
Please pray for the respose of the soul of Mary Boulware,
mother of Marilyn Steiniger. May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest
in peace.
Today we are being given the opportunity to participate in a special collection to help
with the funding of the education and training of men currently being formed as permanent
deacons for service to our parishes and our community. You are being asked to provide not
only your financial assistance, but your prayers also, so that these dedicated men may
continue to be formed in this ministry, and for the growth of the Diaconate program.
Please use the special envelope in your October packet or one found in the pews today.
Your generous support is appreciated.
