Ham and Turkey Shoot
St. Anne Parish is holding their annual Ham &
Turkey Shoot on Sunday, October 5, 2008. The fun begins at 11:00 a. The raffle will be a
$300 1st prize, $200 2nd prize, and a $100 3rd prize. Everyone is invited to join in the
fun. Help is needed for the day. Drawing at the Hog Shoot on Sunday, October 26, 2008. Win
a ham or turkey with the spin of the wheel! Ice cold soda, hamburgers and hot dogs!
Special Collection
On the weekend of October 4th and 5th there will be a special
collection throughout the Archdiocese of St. Louis to financially support the formation
program for the Permanent Diaconate. This collection helps to ensure that those in
formation receive the best education and guidance possible during the 5 year formation
process. Please consider being a generous contributor. Without the financial support from
people like you, the formation program for our Permanent Diaconate would not be what it is
today. Thank you for your continued support of those who are discerning whether God is
calling them to service as a deacon.
Our Lady Sodality
We will be having our FALL TAILGATE SALE, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 4,
2008- 7A -3P/ $10 for a booth. 1 table and 2 chairs will be provided, inside or out. This
is the date of the Bonne Terre city wide garage sale. It might be nice to be outside. Some
space is still available under the pavilion. Donations of clothes and etc. can be dropped
off at the church. Thanking you in advance for your support. There will also be a bake
sale.
"Come there is work to be done"
"Son, go out and work in the vineyard, today."
Matthew 21-28 God does not invite us to do His work. He commands us, "Go out and work
in the vineyard." How can we work in Gods vineyard when we have job and family
responsibilities? We can follow Gods command through prayer, sharing some of our
talents in parish ministry and donating some of the income we make at your jobs to support
Gods special work in this world.
Festival
Advertising does work, we put up signs, you carried signs and you
told your friends. We must not forget next year how well this worked. This festival was an
outstanding success once again. Every year its just a matter of degree and this year
we turned up the degrees. We sold more food, you sold more raffle tickets, and we
attracted more youngsters, bingo players, and music listeners than ever before. It is
enjoyable for all of us to experience success. Thank you for all your efforts setting up,
cleaning up, and working during the day. I would not begin to start naming names but you
know who you are, faithful members supporting St. Josephs Parish.
Congratulations
This was our most successful raffle ever with a record breaking
4,500 tickets sold! Thanks to everyone for their hard work and contributions to make our
parish festival such a great success! Congratulations to our 2008 Festival Raffle Winners!

Liturgical Changes
I recently received a communication from the chancery concerning
the bishops changes to our liturgical wording. In the next few weeks I will publish
the suggested changes one at a time. Well ease into this as gently as possible. It
is what is being asked of us and as your pastor I encourage you to comply.
Number 2:
In the Nicene Creed the opening word, Credo, will be correctly
translated as "I believe" rather than "we believe."
Coat Drive
Ministerial Alliance will be giving away free winter coats
starting October 13, 2008 thru October 31, 2008 at the helping hands store. We need
volunteers to work from 5:00 p to 7:00 p weekdays only and we need donations of winter
coats too. There will be boxes located at the entrance of church for all donated coats,
please go through your winter coats and see what you can give this season. The sign up
sheet will be in the back of church for volunteers.
