66thAnnual St. Joseph Festival
The Festival has come and gone and everything went so
well thanks to the cooperation of our parishioners and friends. The final tally will take
awhile for all of the bills to come in, but it was a big success. We had a lot of new
things, which can grow, and we improved on our familiar things.I will attempt to send a
personal note to everyone and if I missed you, I apologize. However, I will do my best to
thank each of you personally.

Stewardship Awareness
Archbishop Robert J. Carlson has suggested four simple
prayers to say every day.
"Lord, what do You want me to do with all the
gifts You have given me including my time, talents and my material things?"
"Lord, how would You like me to become
more fully involved in the life of Your Church?"
"Lord, how would You like me to pay back
all the gifts You have given me?"
"Lord, what do You want me to do with the
gifts You have given me?"
Mike Lukachick will give a Lay Witness Talk on
Stewardship this weekend.
Please pick up your Personal Intention Cards for
Stewardship. They are in alphabetical order on a table in the back of Church.
Deacons: Caring for You
In addition to their parish service,
Deacons can be found offering us comfort in every facet of our daily life - nursing homes,
hospitals, hospices, prisons, schools, businesses and more. Deacon formation in the
Archdiocese relies heavily on the support of this years annual Deacon Formation
Collection, held this coming October 2nd and 3rd.
Walk for Life
The Parkland Pregnancy Resource
Centers annual Walk for Life will be held on October 16, 2010. They are a Christian
Ministry, which provides care, support, and resources related to pregnancy to individuals
and their families by promoting the sanctity of life. If you are interested in walking,
would like more info, or would like to sponsor or make a donation, please call Autumn
Stegall at 358-0868 or email her at astegallrnc@yahoo.com. This is an right
here in our area to support and promote the sanctity of life.
Guidelines for the
Reception of Communion
For Your Information
I hope this will clarify any questions that
our parishioners and guests might have.
For Catholics: As
Catholics, we fully participate in the celebration of the Eucharist when we receive Holy
Communion. We are encouraged to receive Communion devoutly and frequently. In order to be
properly disposed to receive Holy Communion, participants should not be conscious of grave
sin and normally should have fasted for one hour.
For our fellow Christians: Eucharistic
sharing in exceptional circumstances by other Christians requires permission according to
the directives of the diocesan bishop and the provisions of canon law. (Canon 844, par. 4)
For those not
receiving Holy Communion: All who are not receiving Holy Communion are encouraged to
express in their hearts a prayerful desire for unity with the Lord Jesus and with one
another.
For non-Christians: We also welcome to
this celebration those who do not share our faith in Jesus Christ. While we cannot admit
them to Holy Communion, we ask them to offer their prayers for the peace and the unity of
the human family.
Children and catechumens are invited to come forward to receive
a blessing with their hands crossed.
Life Chain
The National Life Chain will
hold a peaceful, prayerful stand for people from all churches who believe in the
sacredness of human life on Sunday, October 3rd, 2:30 p.m. -3:30 p.m. on Karsch Blvd.in Farmington. Chairs and strollers are welcome.
