Chicken and Dumplings
The Knights of Columbus are having their monthly Chicken and Dumplings Dinner on
Thursday, September 6, 2007. Dinner is being served from 3:30 pm until 6:30 pm at their
Hall on Berry Road. Adults tickets -$6.00 and children - $3.00. Carryout dinners are
available for the same price. Please come and join us.
St. Joachim Festival
St. Joachim is hosting their annual fall picnic on Sunday,
September 9, 2007 at Old Mines, Missouri. A delicious roast beef and fried chicken dinner
will be served from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm. They offer games for adults and children.
Enjoy Bingo, Pull Tabs, and Horseshoes. Watch the Diaper Derby, and Tricycle Races.
Featuring a Hamburger Stand. Don’t forget the famous "Roasted Corn on the

Blessed by the Cross
With the Sign of the Cross we recall in particular the blessing of
the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We trace a cross on ourselves, the cross
of Jesus. His death on the Cross was an outpouring of love for us. The Sign of the Cross
is a reminder of his love, a love found not only in the past, but here and now, as we make
this sign upon ourselves; for the love of Jesus Christ abides forever.
The Sign of the Cross is a wonderful daily expression of our
relationship with God. God is the
One who blesses. This prayer reminds us that each day, in good
times and bad, in danger and sorrow, God’s care and blessings are never far from us.
Tracing this holy sign on our forehead, our hearts and our
shoulders, we remember we are blessed in mind and heart and all our being. We can approach
God with confidence through Jesus Christ whose ever present love this holy sign recalls.
"Come to me," God says through this prayer, "do not be afraid. Before you
take one step, I reach to embrace you with blessings in my hands."
Wanted
Thirty-five adult parishioners to be "prayer partners"
for PSR students. We are teaching the children about the intercessory prayer and the
concept of the Church as the Body of Christ. You must be willing to pray for
"your" student daily, occasionally write an encouraging or seasonal note to the
child, and possibly assist with an occasional PSR activity. In return the student will
pray for you daily and occasionally send you a note. The notes will be in an envelope,
addressed to you and placed on a table in the back of church. Please fill out the form
below and place in the collection basket or stop by the parish office. If you have any
questions, please call Gretchen Pratte at 573-358-5876.

You Are Invited
Last weekend invitations were passed out at St. Joseph and St.
Anne for Father John’s Birthday Bash. Parishioners and friends are invited to
celebrate with Father John his milestone birthday. The party will be hosted by St. Anne
Parish on Sunday, September 30, 2007. The celebration starts at 12:00 pm.
Each family is asked to bring a covered dish and/or dessert. We
are looking forward to a fun filled afternoon. Many activities have been planned for a
great time. Please remember to bring a Birthday card. This is your ticket to the Fiesta.
We are making a "Memory Book" for Father John.
If you have friends coming from Bonne Terre, go out Highway K to
Highway D. Turn left at the stop sign on Highway D. Go five miles to Highway Y, and turn
right. St. Anne Parish grounds are two miles down on the left, at the corner of Highway Y
and Brickey Road. If you have friends coming from St. Louis, take Highway 67 South to
Highway Y. Turn left on Highway Y, go six miles.
Go ahead and mark your calendar. RSVP is not necessary.
Pot Luck Dinner
All parents with children attending any public or private school
and all home schooled families are invited to a Pot Luck Dinner on Sunday, September 23,
2007, in the church hall. An entrée, drinks, paper goods, and flatware will be provided.
Each family is asked to bring a covered dish, salad, or dessert, enough to serve 4-6
people. Please call Beth Black, 573-358-5347 or Gretchen Pratte, 573-358-5876 by September
19, 2007, so we can plan to accommodate all who wish to attend.
Our Lady Sodality
The Sodality would like to invite all ladies, family and friends,
to a one day retreat on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm. The retreat
day is designed and will be conducted by Father Ray Oge. We will open with a prayer,
followed by the Sacrament of Penance and discussion time. The day will close with the
praying of the rosary and Benediction. Lunch will be included. Please RSVP by calling the
parish office at 358-2112. There is no fee for the day.
