St. Joachim Parish (Old Mines) will be holding its annual Fall
Festival on Sunday, September 14, 2008, beginning at 11:00 am. Fried Chicken and Roast
Beef dinner will be served in our air-conditioned school hall from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. We
will also have an outdoor Hamburger Stand, Roasted Corn on the Cob, Live music all day,
Bingo, Raffles, Country Store, Childrens games and contests, along with activities
for all ages. St. Joachim is located on Highway 21at Old Mine, MO. Join is for a day of
fun and games.
Golf Tournament
St. James Catholic Church, 210 N. Missouri St. Potosi, MO. Will be
hosting their annual Golf Tournament on September 26, 2008 at the beautiful Fourche Valley
Golf Course west of Potosi on Hwy 8. There will be 3-person teams. Food will be served all
day. Winners will be in flights. If you can not golf and want to help them you may sponsor

Linking the Message of
Jesus to Catholic Youth
On Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at 12 noon, the
Catholic Youth Apostolate of the Archdiocese will hold its first-ever Golf Classic at the
Probstein Golf Course on Forest Park. All funds raised by the tournament will be used to
support CYC Sports, Catholic Scouting, Office of Youth Ministry, and REAP spiritual
programs. More than 100,000 youths in the Archdiocese will benefit. For more information,

News Release
Archdiocesan Office of Sacred Music to Hold Auditions for
Archdiocesan Choirs. The Office of Sacred Music of the Archdiocese of St. Louis announces
auditions for Archdiocesan Adult, Childrens, and Hand bell Choirs. The choirs lead
the sung prayer at all major Archdiocesan Liturgies. Of particular importance this year
will be the Holy Masses of Thanksgiving and Installation when a new Archbishop is
appointed. Additionally, the choir will perform at Carnegie Hall and St. Patricks
Cathedral in the New York City in June of 2009.
PSR Information
PSR classes will begin Sunday, September 7 at 9:00 A.M. for grades
K-8. All students will meet in the school auditorium that first day. For more information

PSR registration has begun for all students in grades K-9.
Students wishing to register for First Reconciliation and First Communion classes must
have attended a P.S.R. or Catholic school religion class for one year prior to this year.
Confirmation classes will be offered next year. Students wanting
to be confirmed during the 2009-2010 school year must attend classes 70% of the time this
year.
Registration forms will be available at the back of church.
Complete forms and leave them at the back of church or turn them into the rectory office.

The Old Rectory now boasts a beautiful new Bronze Plaque carrying
the inscription "Missouri Historic Site." Take a few minutes to look it over.
Remember the Old Rectory is open for inspection between 11 and 12 P.M. during the months
of June, July and August of each year.
