Stewardship
"If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the
last of all and the servant of all." - Mark 9:35
Throughout the Gospels, Jesus teaches us through His words and
through His life that we are called to serve one another. We can serve through our
sacrifices of time, talent and treasure. Sacrifice is not a word that many people like to
hear. We think it means that we must give up something that we want. However, the literal
meaning of sacrifice is "to make holy". In other words, we make our lives holy
by giving up some of our time, talent and treasure in the service of God and His Church.
We will observe the celebration of Stewardship Awareness during
the weekends of August 15-16 and August 22-23 this year.
Your Personal Intention Cards for Stewardship have been mailed. If
you have not received your intention card, please call the parish office.
Your Gift to God
Always Wrap a Present!
When we give a gift to someone, usually the gift is
wrapped and decorated! The same should happen with our gift to God. Wrap your gift of
Treasure in the envelopes that are mailed to you. Using your envelopes regularly is the
proper way to support your parish.
Daughters of Isabella
REMINDER: Our next meeting will be August 10th beginning with
dinner at 6:00 p.m. Please bring a dish of your choice. Don’t forget your baby items
for the State baby shower.
In addition, our circle is making a basket for raffle at the
convention. Our theme is a wine basket. Some suggestions are wine, glasses, gourmet
crackers, assorted nuts, fancy cookies, candles, corkscrews, coasters, theme napkins and
plates, and anything you consider appropriate. See you on Monday!
Please Support
Whenever possible, please support the advertisers on the back of
our bulletin. Thank them and let them know you saw their ad.
Festival 2009
September 20, 2009
The picnic is just around the corner and the Country
Store will open its doors this year with a few changes. We will have a Silent Auction and
raffle off a grocery cart full of food. Donations of homemade jams, jellies, and breads;
flowers; fresh vegetables; quilts; fancy work, etc. will be much appreciated. We will also
be making small and large size baskets of shampoos, lotions, personal care items, kitchen
items, picnic items, etc. for sale. If you can donate any of these items and/or small or
laundry size baskets, please call Janet Mecey at 358-0684 or Ruth Hunt at 358-3733.
Special Announcement
In these economic times everyone is looking for a way to cut cost.
We are not an exception.
Last year we had a special collection to help defray the cost of
our Festival Dinner. It was very successful. This year we are again asking for your help
and participation. An envelope will be in your September packet. If you do not have an
envelope, please use one of the butterfly envelopes found in the pews and mark
"Festival".
Many of our parishioners who have worked very hard in the past are
not able to help physically. But they pray for the success of the Festival and support us
in many other ways. The envelope in the monthly packet will help them help St. Joseph. I
am asking for your prayers and support to help make this Festival another success.
Vincentian Marian Youth
The Vincentian Marian Youth Encounter is scheduled for today,
August 9, at the Shrine Church in Perryville, MO. Faith Alive will start the evening at
6:00 p.m. followed by Mass with contemporary Christian music with Fr. Milton Ryan, CM as
the main celebrant. After Mass refreshment will be served in the Visitors’ Center.
Come celebrate Mass and an evening of fun.
