ST. ANNE CHURCH

What is Stewardship?
Stewardship is a way of life. It is a way of living each day in
gratitude for all the blessings that God has given to us. The roots of stewardship can be
found in the Bible, which tells us over and over that God is the Creator and Giver of all
gifts. It is our responsibility to show our gratitude to God for these gifts, by giving
back to Him the "first fruits".
Sharing our gifts and returning them to God means giving
generously of our time, talent and treasure. We give to God by sharing with our Church and
with those in need. Time and talent can be shared by becoming involved in parish life,
volunteering and offering a helping hand.
Treasure can be shared by making a conscious effort to make a
financial gift to God first, before we pay the bills and buy the things we want. When we
give to God only after all of our personal spending we end up throwing Him the loose
change or having nothing left at all to give. When we give to God first we are making a
gift of faith, trusting that God will provide for our needs. We are truly giving Him the
"first fruits" just as God asked us to do in the Bible.
We will observe the celebration of Stewardship Awareness during
the weekends of August 8-9 and August 15-16 this year.
Annual Leopold Picnic
The Annual Leopold Picnic will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2009
at St. John Church. An old-fashioned country dinner including Kettle Beef, Fried Chicken
and Chicken and Dumplings with all the trimmings will be served from
3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Come and enjoy home-made ice cream,
crafts, and games. The band Silverado will perform from 8:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. Admission
is free to the dance. For more info and directions to Leopold, please call 573-238-3300.
Missionary Appeal
The Reverend Fred Ricco will speak at our parish this weekend at
all Masses on behalf of the Missionary Cooperation Appeal Plan for 2009.
Please be generous in your support of our missionaries this
weekend.
Festival 2009
September 20, 2009
The picnic is just around the corner and the Country
Store will open its doors this year with a few changes. We will have a Silent Auction and
raffle off a grocery cart full of food. Donations of homemade jams, jellies, and breads;
flowers; fresh vegetables; quilts; fancy work, etc. will be much appreciated. We will also
be making small and large size baskets of shampoos, lotions, personal care items, kitchen
items, picnic items, etc. for sale. If you can donate any of these items and/or small or
laundry size baskets, please call Janet Mecey at 358-0684 or Ruth Hunt at 358-3733.
Thank You
A big "Thank You" to everyone who responded to the
Diaper Drive sponsored by Gods Lifesavers.
A total of 8,245 individual diapers, 2,466 baby wipes and 16 baby
blankets were received by Birthright, The Womens Shelter, Parkland Pregnancy
Resource Center, Nurses for Newborns, and the SVDP Food Pantry. Thank you again for your
care and generosity.
2009 Friends for Life
The Archdiocesan Respect Life Apostolate is conducting its annual
"Friends for Life" Patron Drive next weekend. Your gift will help save the lives
of unborn babies by providing material and emotional support for women experiencing crisis
pregnancies. Your gift will help heal those who suffer as a result of an abortion through
Project Rachel counseling. It will protect those who are disabled, frail or elderly by
enhancing education about end of life decisions that respect the intrinsic value of every
human life. Your gift will educate eighth grade students and their parents about the
reality of abortion and the blessings of chastity through the Right START program.
Envelopes will be available July 25th & 26th for this
"Friends for Life" Patron Drive. Thank you for your faithful and generous
support of the spiritual, educational, public policy and pastoral programs and outreach of
the Respect Life Apostolate.
