What is Stewardship?
Spending Time with God –
Stewardship involves spending time with God. Recognizing that every day is a gift from
God, we strive to spend some of each day with God, through prayer, Mass, Eucharistic
Adoration, scripture reading, quiet meditation and other spiritual activities.
Sharing Talent – Stewardship involves sharing talent. Recognizing that God has given each individual unique
skills and talents so that together we can do the work of Our Lord, we strive to share our
own talents and to encourage and welcome others to also use their talents to carry out the
mission and ministry of the Church.
Giving Treasure – Stewardship involves giving
treasure. Giving time and talent does not excuse us from giving treasure. We know that
throughout the Gospels, Jesus challenged us to give as it has been given to us.
Recognizing the tremendous financial blessings that abound in our country, we strive to
give at least 10% of our resources back to
God, to support the building up of God’s kingdom.
Learn About the Early Church
Who first used "Catholic" in describing the Church? What
heresy almost destroyed it in its infancy? How did the structure of the Church develop?
What early Church council did the real Santa Claus attend? Learn the answers and more
in a discussion group on the first 400 years of the Church. It
will start in September, possibly on Tuesday evenings. If interested, please call Geoffrey
Pratte at 358-5876. We need to know how many might attend so that we can plan for
materials.
Parish Picnic - Cottleville
The Annual Parish Picnic at St. Joseph Parish in Cottleville will
be held on Friday/Saturday/Sunday, July 10, 11, and 12. They will serve Super Smoker BBQ
Brats, and their famous chicken and beef dinners in air-conditioned comfort. Rides, games
and a Silent Auction will be available all three days. Come and enjoy live music and shop
their quilts and crafts in the gym lobby. Please call 636-441-0055 for directions.
Benefit Golf Tournament
Make your reservation! The St. Joseph’s Seventeenth Annual
Benefit Golf Tournament will be held this year on Friday, August 21, 2009. Terre du Lac
Golf Course will host the 4 person scramble – flighted tournament. Tee time will be
1:00 p.m. Price includes cart, green fees, refreshments and dinner at the Terre du Lac
Pavilion. Please register by completing the form enclosed in your bulletin. Extra forms
are available in the back of Church.

Annual Silver & Golden
Wedding Jubilee Mass
A special Mass, celebrated by Archbishop Robert J. Carlson, will
be held on Sunday, October 11, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. at the Cathedral Basilica. All those
married 25, 50, or 50-plus years who register before Friday, September 25 will have their
names and the date of their wedding printed in a beautiful keepsake program and receive a
certificate of congratulations signed by the Archbishop. Please call 314-792-7170 to make
