PETERS PENCE COLLECTION
SECOND COLLECTION
Each year, the annual Peters Pence
Collection, in support of the works of the Holy Father, is held in parishes across the
country. The proceeds of this collection fund
emergency relief assistance to those throughout the world who suffer from war, oppression
and natural disasters.
As we participate in this special appeal, we
join with Catholics throughout the world in a loving expression of solidarity. We share in the concern of the Successor of Saint
Peter for many different needs of the universal Church and for the relief of those most in
need. Please pray about it. As always your generosity is most appreciated.

ST. ANNE CHURCH,
FRENCH VILLAGE, MO.
REVEREND ROBERT E. WOOD, C.M.
50TH ANNIVERSARY OF ORDINATION
Fr. Robert E. Wood, C.M. will
celebrate his Golden Jubilee of Ordination during the Saturday evening Mass at 5:15P.M. on
July 8th. Father Wood would like
to invite our parishioners to attend this Mass. A
dinner reception follows in the Church Hall for his family and invited guests.
Father Robert was born on July 9,
1929 and is the second son of Herbert and Gladys Wood, both deceased. He has six brothers and four sisters who were
raised in Bonne Terre and grew up in St. Joseph parish.
In response to Gods call to a
religious vocation, Robert took his vows on May 25, 1949.
In the presence of God and his family, he was ordained to the Sacred
Priesthood by the Most
Reverend Charles H. Helmsing, D.D.
on Trinity Sunday, May 27,1956 in the Assumption Church, St .Mary of the Barrens,
Perryville, Mo. Reverend Robert Wood offered
his First Solemn Mass on June 3, 1956 in St. Joseph Church in Bonne Terre.
Continuing his education, he
completed his Masters in Physics at St. Louis University in 1967 and received his
Doctorate in Philosophy from DePaul University in 1986.
As a Vincentian Father, he teaches math, science, philosophy and
theology. During his first thirty years, he
taught in seminaries in Missouri and California. In
1986 Fr. Robert was asked to go to Kenya to teach in the Good Shepherd Major Seminary
established among the semi-nomadic peoples in
Northern Kenya. While at the Good Shepherd
Major Seminary in Maralal, Kenya, he served in various positions as Dean of Students,
Academic Dean, Treasurer and Rector. In 1989,
he was appointed Superior of the Vincentians at the newly constructed Christ the King
Major Seminary located in Nyeri, Kenya where he continues to serve today.
Fr. Robert thanks God for his many
blessings especially family, St. Joseph Parish and friends who have helped him on his
priestly journey. Fr. Robert especially
appreciates your prayers, letters and donations to his religious order, the Congregation
of the Mission.
In lieu of gifts, Fr. Robert would
be honored if anyone wanted to contribute to the Kenyan Mission, c/o Congregation of the
Mission Midwest Province, Development
Office, 13663 Rider Trail North, Earth City, Mo. 63045-1512.
P.S. Please let us
prayerfully thank God for his gift of Fr. Wood to the Church.
