On the 80s TV show "A Team", the leader had a line
when they would pull off their mission, "I love it when a plan comes together"!
That is just what happened Sunday at the St. Joseph Festival
our own "A Teams plan came together. What a Festival and it is all due to
Gods great weather and a lot of hard working people. We are not talking just about
the Festival Committee but every one of you who took part in this years event. No
matter how you look at it
to quote the late Jack Buck, "Thats a winner
"!!!
The food was great, the bingo was full, the games running full
blast, raffle bid was fuller, the beer truck was busy, the concession stands had lines and
the list goes on and on. Then there was the entertainment
what a show!!! The Plummer
Family Show as a big, big hit
so much so we booked them for next year.
We do not have the numbers yet but we know sales were up at every
location. The tent for the show started filling up a half-hour before each of the shows
and by show time was standing room only. Yet there were still playing bingo and
childrens games. If you missed it
you missed a great time. Plan now for next
year. It will be on the same weekend
This great Festival would not have happened if it were not for
you
the workers of this parish. So puff out your chest and throw back your head. You
truly have a Festival you can point to with pride! We of the committee say "Thank
You".
The winners of this years raffle have been notified.
$1000.00 was won by Chrissy Skiles, DVD player won by Mary Wood and the beautiful quilt by
Denny Bender. Congratulations to all!
CI CI"S PIZZA
The first Thursday of the month CiCis Pizza will
donate a percentage of their sales to us if you mention St. Joseph School, Bonne Terre.
You will enjoy a wonderful meal plus help our School. |
PETERS
PENCE COLLECTION
" No one has greater love than this" (John
15:13). The annual Peters Pence Collection will be taken up on this week-end. It
gives us all an opportunity to join in partnership with the Holy Father in his works of
mercy. Please be generous. As always your contribution is appreciated.
The regular meeting of the St. Vincent De Paul will be held on the
second Tuesday of the month, July 8 at 7:00P.M. Meetings will resume in August at the
regular schedule of the first Tuesday of the month. Please mark your calendar.
The Daughters of Isabella are sponsoring a drive to provide items
for "Care Pacs" to be given to men and women in local Missouri prisons. These
items are given to the Criminal Justice Ministry, Society of St. Vincent De Paul in St.
Louis who are co-ordinating the effort.
A care box will be placed in the church vestibule for
the month of July to collect items. Here are some of the items needed: shampoo, soaps,
tooth paste and tooth brushes, lipstick or chap stick, lotion, vaseline, deodorants,
notepads, wooden pencils and/or ballpoint pens, snack foods (in plastic- not tin), tube
socks, rubber flipflops, and panties) Please be generous! Thank you.
It is said that Catholicism is not just a religion, its a
culture. While Catholics belong to the largest Christian denomination, what makes us
unique goes beyond our Sunday worship.
Catholics rely on Scripture and tradition. The pope and clergy
teach us how to apply Scripture to issues we face today. This application is known as
tradition.
We sense Gods presence sacramentally. Symbols help us
recognize his presence and power.
The Church teaches that Jesus is truly present in the bread and
wine not just symbolically.
Although they have died, we still commune with the saints.
Its a network of friends who lead us to God.
Catholics support both celibacy and marriage. The Church teaches
that if one is not married, one must be celibate.
Outreach charity and justice are central to Catholicism. Catholics
are to a neighborhood community and a worldwide church led by the pope. This connection
gives us a sense that we are all Gods people.
