Learn About the Early Church
Who first used "Catholic" in describing the Church? What
heresy almost destroyed it in its infancy? How did the structure of the Church develop?
What early Church council did the real Santa Claus attend? Learn the answers and more
in a discussion group on the first 400 years of the Church. It
will start in September, possibly on Tuesday evenings. If interested, please call Geoffrey
Pratte at 358-5876. We need to know how many might attend so that we can plan for
materials.
Perpetual Help Novena
The Redemptoristine Nuns at Liguori invite you to attend their
Annual Novena in honor of Our Mother of Perpetual Help on June 19th through
June 27th. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass
will begin at 7:30 p.m. For more information, please call the Monastery at 636-464-1093.
Peters Pence Collection
Next week our parish will take up the Peters Pence
Collection. This Collection allows the Holy Father to cast the light of Christ upon the
world by providing emergency assistance to those who need it most around the globe
Prayer for Fathers
Dear God,
You have given fathers the task ofraising their children to
holiness.
You chose Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as fathers of Your holy nation of Israel. Despite their
failings, weaknesses and poor choices, You made them a great and long-
lasting nation. And when the time came for
Your Son to enter this world, You chose a holy man named Joseph as his father. As our
Heavenly Father, You have seen us, your children, make both wise and poor choices.Give us
grace to be faithful to You, despite our failings, and help us be fathers to our children
as You have been to us.
Amen.
A special blessing for fathers will be given at all the Masses
this weekend.
"Get Caught Praying" and other words of wisdom
are examined in the pamphlet "Ten Things That Make for a
Great Catholic Dad", which is an insert in this mornings bulletin.
