Todays mother may be a homemaker, an executive, a doctor, a
teacher, a factory worker, or artist. She may choose a full-time career outside the home,
or some combination of each.
She may be a natural mother, or an adoptive mother, a step-mother,
or a foster mother. However she gained the title and however she expresses herself, the
woman who becomes a mother takes on the added responsibility of raising children today for
a better world tomorrow.
A mother can exert a positive influence not only on her children
but also on her world. Being a mother calls for a spirit of generosity that enables a
woman to give children both "roots and wings." Youngsters rooted in love will
have the security theyll need to move into a wider world prepared to face
lifes challenges.
A mother must strive to balance the needs of her children, family,
friends, business associates, and neighbors, with her own personal needs. As one little
girl said a mother is someone "who shows me how to live." It is a demanding role
no less for the joys than rewards it offers. (From The Catholic Yearbook)
CONGRATULATIONS and a wish for happiness (not only today
but always) to all the mothers in our parish. We also remember with loving prayers those
no longer with us.
Special good wishes to all who are new mothers this year.

The Parish Festival Committee
would like to thank all of those that took the time to fill in a Volunteer form over the
past two weekends. You will be hearing from the Committee Chairs in the next few weeks as
we continue the planning of Festival 2003.
As we have reported, we are making a strong effort to increase
the number of people attending the Festival. We have mailed out some 20 letters to tour
companies and area nursing homes that have transportation inviting them to plan a trip to
your Festival.
In other news, the Church has acquired the use of a new system
to fry the chicken. The system is called a pressure fryer. This is the type of cooker
currently used by major chicken specialty restaurants
yes, the guy in the white suit
with the goatee uses this kind of system. It will allow us to cook a sizable amount of
chicken each hour thus having fresh fired chicken within minutes of your mouth.
We said Ted Drewes Frozen custard is coming to the
Festival. Also on tap will be Guss Pretzel from St. Louis
fresh made the day
of the Festival. Add this to the Plummer Family and a few more ideas we have and it is
start to look like we will have a big crowd. We will have more ideas for you later!
If you have not yet volunteered, please take time to consider
how you might help. We need you to take part in some way. If you want to help, please give
the Church office a call at 358-2112.
Remember the proceeds from this event help keep the doors of
St. Joseph School open!
