PLEASE CALL THE OFFICE OF WORSHIP 314-792-7230
During the fifty days of Easter Season, we
have been celebrating the manifold ways in which Christ is alive in us in the Church, so
that we may bring His truth and love to the world. Before
His Ascension, He instructed the disciples to pray for a second outpouring of the Holy
Spirit into their souls, so that they might be his witness to the end of the
earth (Acts 1:8). On Pentecost Sunday,
Christ, seated at the right hand of the Father in glory, poured out the Holy Spirit upon
the Apostles who, in turn, poured out the Holy Spirit upon all who received the gift of
faith.
It is most fitting that on Pentecost
Sunday, we will take up the annual collection for the Catholic Communications Campaign. A program of the United States Conference of
Catholic Bishops, the Catholic Communication Campaign produces and supports hundreds of
media projects, both nationally and regionally, which communicate the truth of the Gospel
and the Churchs teaching to all people. Locally,
your contribution to the Catholic Communication Campaign helps support important spiritual
programs such as the televised Mass, an essential way in which the larger Catholic
community remains in communication with our brothers and sisters who, due to special needs
or advanced years or serious illness, are unable to be with us in person for the
celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
Your support of the Catholic Communication
Campaign plays a key part in the fulfillment of Christs
commission to teach the Gospel to all the nations. Now more that ever, your contribution
will help significantly the work of the
new evangelization, to which our late and most beloved Holy Father Pope john Paul II so
frequently urged us and to which our new holy
father Pope Benedict XVI has already urged us. Your
contribution will help to bring the truth and love of Christ to all people. I ask you to be generous in support of the
Catholic Communication Campaign Collection that will be taken up on the weekend of May
14-15.
Yours devotedly in Christ
