2009 Annual Catholic Appeal
Jesus appears to two disciples and opens their minds to the
Scriptures. He tells them, "Thus it is written that the Christ would suffer and rise
from the dead on the third day and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins, would be
preached in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witness of
these things." Through His words, Jesus encourages the disciples - and us - to go
forth to act with love and mercy as we serve one another. Within our Church and beyond, we
work to serve God. Please support those who will benefit from the 2009 Annual Catholic
Appeal Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. You
can meet some of the people who benefit at www.archstl.org/stewardship.
This weekend a Guest Speaker from the Archdiocese of St. Louis
will be visiting with us after all the Masses.
Eucharistic Adoration
When we contemplate Christ present in the Blessed Sacrament we are
given the opportunity to thank Him for His passion, death, and glorious resurrection, the
marvelous saving act that brought about our redemption. Christ draws near to us, more
intimate with us than we are with ourselves. He strengthens our share in His divine life,
the life that transforms us into His likeness and, in the Spirit, He gives us access to
the Father.
There is a sign up sheet in the back of Church for the First
Friday Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. The celebration of the Eucharistic Adoration
will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, May 1, and conclude with the Benediction at 5:00 p.m.
Please sign up for your time to be spent with the Lord. He gave His life, can we not give
one-half hour or more to Him?
Prayer For The
First Communicants
Dear Jesus,
Through bread and wine at the Last Supper, and by your Holy Word, You gave the Eucharist to your church. You transformed
common food into His Body and Blood, and offered us a share in your life in ways we still
cannot fully understand. Grant now that Lee Bess, Trevor Bley, Tristan , Jax Byington,
Emmanuel Guirguis, Maggie Hull, Tyler Hambrick, Maddie Keller, Colton Lenhardt, Daniel
Lukachick, Nicholas Lukachick, and Jarren Stotler will always
treasure the gift they have in You.Give them the grace to be faithful to You and to remain
in communion with your church. When they receive their First Communion, the Bread of Life
and Cup of Salvation, make them aware of the hope they have for eternal life in You. Amen.
Congratulations to the First Communicants, their parents and teachers.
Mothers Day Cards
Mothers Day is May 10th. Birthright of
Hillsboro is holding their Mothers Day Card fundraising project again this year.
Consider honoring your mother or other special women in your life while supporting
Birthright at the same time. Birthright offers free, confidential help in our community
and is in need of funds to continue the work of saving unborn lives and easing the burdens
of those faced with untimely pregnancy. Mothers Day Cards may be picked up at the
table in the back of Church.
