Day is May 8th.
What are you planning to do for your
mother? Birthright
is holding their mothers
Day fundraising project again this year. Consider
honoring your mother or other special women in your life while supporting Birthright at
the same time. Birthright offers free,
confidential help in our community and is in need of funds to continue the work of saving
unborn lives and easing the burdens of those faced with untimely pregnancy. Mothers Day cards can be picked up at the
church exits. A letter of explanation and an
envelope for sending your donation to Birthright is included with each card.

Let us be joyful and pray to God with
thanksgiving for his gift to us of Pope Benedict XVI.
We
have all lived to experience once again the hand of the Spirit in the leadership of the
Church. Let us pray and support Gods
given representative among us.
Long live the
Pope!
Recently,
our sister Parish, St. Anne celebrated a forty-hour Eucharistic Adoration. It ran from Friday evening until Sunday at noon. I am proud to say that someone was present before
the Blessed Sacrament morning, noon and night.
Here
at St. Joseph we have Eucharistic Adoration on the first Friday of the month from 8:30a.m.
until 5:00p.m. concluding with Benediction. Most of the hours during the day the Blessed
Sacrament is alone. The Blessed Sacrament is supposed to be kept in the tabernacle. On special occasions it can be exposed in the
monstrance. At all times someone is supposed
to be in front of the Blessed Sacrament.
I
have heard it said that the spiritual vitality of a parish is measured by its Eucharistic
Adoration. Perhaps we are slowing down in our
enthusiasm for the Eucharist. There are sign
up sheets in the back of church. We would
encourage you to spend an hour but you can also spend a half hour for this upcoming First
Friday.
If this is not a devotion we want here at the
parish the next three months will determine whether we drop it or not. The Archbishop has encouraged every parish to
renew their Eucharistic Adoration. I was only trying to follow his advice when we started
this devotion again.
In
a last ditch effort I am trying to find some group in our parish or someone that will head
this up. The job is not difficult. As a start
it requires a little time and about 10 people. I
am praying someone will come forth to help us keep Eucharistic Adoration alive in our
parish.

John
OUR LADYS SODALITY
Our Ladys Sodality would like to invite all of our parishioners to a bake sale and baby shower. It will be after all Masses next week end. A table will also be set up at St. Anne. We are
also accepting cash donations. Proceeds to
benefit Birthright.
