Picnic - 2009
Thank you to all who have donated toward the Country Store/Fancy Stand. We are
still in need of donations.
Womens World Day of Prayer
Thank you to the school children who did such a wonderful job in helping make
WWDP such a success. Our guests from the local churches were very impressed.
Thank you also to all who helped decorate, participate in the
readings, and prepare the ethnic food for our enjoyment. Our scarves did the trick.
"Leaders Through Mary"
In order to open membership to men in our spiritual group, Our
Lady Sodality has changed its name to "Leaders Through Mary". We will focus on
attendance at the Eucharistic Adoration. A sign up sheet will be available in order to
insure that the Blessed Sacrament will not be alone. We will also pray the Rosary on the
First Thursday of the month outside by Our Lady Statue. Other areas of focus are in the
planning stage and will be published as details become available. Membership is open to
St. Joseph and St. Anne Parishes. We welcome our new members, Char Gestring and Bernie
Burle.
Knights of Columbus
Dont miss out people are lining up early this year
for the best fish fry this side of the Mississippi. Bring your family and friends and
enjoy a great meal at a great price. The proceeds will be donated to St. Joseph School.
Trivia Night
The Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a Trivia Night on Saturday,
March 28, 2009. The Knights will provide complimentary "Pizza" by Little
Caesars. Join the fun and win cash prizes at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The Silent
Auction is scheduled 6:30 7:00 p.m. Trivia fun begins at 7:00 p.m. For
reservations, please call Tom Willette at 358-7516 or Richard King at 358-5661
Lenten Reflections
When Jesus knocks on the door of your heart the
handles on the INSIDE. "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone
hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in." Jesus doesnt push His Way
in He waits for you to open the door. Open the door and your life to Jesus this
Lent.
Catholic Relief Services
The 2009 Catholic Relief Services Collection theme, "Give
Hope to Jesus in Disguise," reminds us that our faith calls us to care for one
another and that Christ is present both in those who suffer and in those who respond
compassionately to their needs. The Catholic Relief Services Collection confronts issues
such as food security, HIV/AIDS, education and peace building. The Collection also
supports legal services for refugees, advocacy, relief and development, and
disaster/emergency relief. When you donate to The Catholic Relief Services Collection, you
give hope. Please be generous in todays collection.
Golden Anniversary
Nib and Marilyn Steiniger will celebrate fifty years of marriage
at the 5:00 p.m. Mass on March 21, 2009. Father Robert J. Sullivan married Nib and Marilyn
in 1959 at Our Lady of Presentation Catholic Church in St. Johns, Missouri. They have been
blessed with five sons and daughter-in-laws and seven grandchildren. We join Father John
in extending our congratulations and prayers for many more years of happiness.
Rite of Christian
Initiation of Adults
The Scrutinies are celebrated in order to deliver the
elect from the power of sin and Satan, to protect them from temptation, and to give them
strength in Christ, who is the way, the truth, and the life. These rites, therefore,
should complete the conversion of the elect and deepen their resolve to hold fast to
Christ and to carry out their decision to love God above all.
The Celebrant gives a special blessing which assures them of our
loving support and prayers. We look forward to the day when they will share fully in the
Lords Table.
