You
are invited to our post Christmas party today after
Mass in the Church Hall. We will enjoy
Christmas cookies and refreshments courtesy of the ladies of our Parish.
Eucharistic Adoration
Of
all devotions, that of adoring Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the greatest after the
sacraments, the one dearest to God and the one most
helpful to us. St.
Alphonsus Liguori
The celebration of the Eucharistic
Adoration will
begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2012 and conclude with Benediction at 5:00 p.m.
Start
off the New Year by signing up for your time to be spent with the Lord.
Stewardship Reflections
And
Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart. LUKE 2:19
From
the moment of His birth she was called upon to share Him with strangers who flocked to see
Him. In the same way, we are also called to
hold our blessings lightly, being willing to share what God has given to us with those
whom God may lead to us. As this New Year
begins, let us look to Mary as a grace-filled model of sharing all that God might ask of
us.
Trivia Night
The Alumni Association of St. Pius X High
School will host a Trivia Night on January 14, 2012. The
cost is $120 for a table of eight. Beer, soda
and water will be provided. Please call Paula
Napier at 636-931-1939 to make reservations.
Welcome
If you are visiting, we are honored by your presence and welcome you to
worship with us. Or if you have been away from the Church for a while, we sincerely
welcome you HOME. Please call us if you would
like more information on becoming a member of our Parish and we will be glad to help you. We hope you will come again.
Deacons CornerDedicated Quiet
And
Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart. These words we hear in
todays Gospel concerning the events after the birth of our Lord. What other events
did Mary see in her life as Jesus grew to manhood and the three years of His ministry?
Could we have seen and understood them all had we lived them as Mary did, I wonder?
The
world is such a busy and noisy place; so often we miss that which occurs right in front of
us or worse that said to us with love and compassion. Mary kept the events and reflected
on them in her heart. In the quietness and stillness of her heart; away from the noise and
business of the day, it is in the heart that we come to understand the workings of our
Lord.
This
year I would like to challenge you; each day find a few minutes to sit quietly in a spot
in your home or where ever you find a place of peace, maybe after morning Mass alone in
the Church or even
sitting in your car. Do not bring a book or listen to a tape, just sit and reflect on
the events of Jesus in your life. Let Him speak to you and be still that you can hear Him.
And
the deepest level of communication is not communication, but communion. It is wordless. It
is beyond words, and it is beyond speech, and it is beyond concept. Not that we discover a
new unity. We discover an older unity. My dear brothers (and sisters),
we are already one. But we imagine that we are not. And what we have to recover is our
original unity. What we have to be is what we are. Thomas Merton
You
see in dedicating a time for quiet, we allow ourselves to be one with our Lord and allow
communion with Him to take place. On this the first day of 2012, let us dedicate this year
to be in communion with our Lord and allow ourselves to reflect on Him in our hearts.
May
God keep you safe,
Deacon
Mark
