A grant was written last winter to the International Flower Bulb Center of Holland for 200 Dutch bulbs. St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School was selected as a recipient. This award will enhance curriculum activities involving the study of bulbs and give the students hands-on experience with the many joys and wonders of gardening. In addition, the bulb assortment will provide the school grounds with a beautiful display of spring color for many years to come. The garden will be called Grimmer Garden. Bulbs will arrive in October, 2001

This weekend, June 2-3, Coffee and Donuts will be served in the church hall following Masses, at both parishes.

This Sunday,June 3, we celebrate the Feast
of Pentecost. The Pentecost, or sending of the Holy Spirit, was the last stage in the glorification of Christ, although He was not present. It occurs directly after the Ascension. It is no accident that Pentecost begins with the Spirit. Indeed, Christian life cannot exist without the first gift of Christ to those who believe.

Our own personal Pentecost is our Confirmation; the Holy Spirit empowers us to profess our faith boldly before the world. Let us always stand up for Christ confidently in the strength of the Holy Spirit.
