WORLD DAY OF PRAYER
FOR VOCATIONS

Today is World Day of Prayer for Vocations. We pray that each of us is faithful to our vocation. If you know someone who might benefit from your encouragement toward a Catholic Church vocation invite them to consider being a priest, brother, sister, deacon, or lay minister. Please remember to pray today and throughout the week for men and women from our parish who are discerning a call to priesthood, religious life, diaconate, or lay ministry.

Sunday, May 6, is the National Day of Appreciation for Catholic School Pastors. Please offer a special prayer of gratitude for Father John for his support of the school and all that he has done on the school’s behalf. The faculty, staff, and students will honor Father John and Deacon Ron with an assembly on Monday, May 7 in the school auditorium immediately following morning Mass. The parish community is invited to attend.

"My Sheep hear my voice. I know them and they follow me." (John 10:27)

Renewed with the Easter promise of salvation, our ears are open to hear the word of Jesus Christ. His word comes to us everyday in many ways, through our Catholic schools and youth ministries, our parish family life, social ministries, and special programs and agencies. Reaching out to all our brothers and sisters, enables them to also follow the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. Archdiocesan Development Appeal programs are Christ’s word-in-action in every corner of the Archdiocese. Our parish benefits in many ways. Listed below is a statement of the benefits our parish has received from the Archdiocesan Development Appeal this past year.

$8,000.00 – To help defray the cost of teachers
salaries for the 2000/2001 School Year
$5,000.00 - To help with the expense of new
windows for our school
$1,000.00 Special Projects for the school
$15,000.00 To help defray the cost of teachers
salaries for the 2001/2002 School  Year

Each year our school families are awarded Grants through the "Today and Tomorrow Foundation" which is part of the Archdiocesan Development Appeal. The Grants range from $3,000.00 to $4,000.00.

Last year, St. Joseph Church exceeded our ADA pledges. The total of the Grants awarded to St. Joseph Church surpassed the pledges.

Your pledge to this year’s appeal can be fulfilled as a one-time gift, or in monthly or quarterly contributions. Prayfully consider your 2001 pledge. Is it possible to increase your gift? Please be generous; it is "In Giving, We Receive."

FATHER BRUNS ANNIVERSARY DINNER

This weekend you will have the opportunity to pick up a personal invitation from the Anniversary Committee, to the celebration of Father Brun’s 50th year of ordination to the priesthood.

The reception will begin after the 11:00a.m. Mass. It is imperative, in planning for the food, that you give us your RSVP. We will provide only enough food for those who respond.

CLAM

The Catholic Legal Assistance Ministry (CLAM) provides free legal services primarily to women and children of all denominations throughout the Archdiocese who are facing a crisis in their lives and who are unable to pay for such services. This ministry is supported by your contributions to the Archdiocesan Development Appeal. Once each month (usually the second Monday of the month), CLAM representatives interview potential new clients at the St. Vincent Parish Center in Perryville. No appointment is necessary, but it may be prudent to call St. Vincent’s (573-547-4591) to confirm the date and times of intake sessions for new clients.
