DAUGHTERS OF ISABELLA

Christmas, 2006
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the
Word was God.
In Him was life and the life was the Light of men. The light shines in
the dark-ness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
(Jn. 1:1,4-6)
Through these opening lines of the Gospel of Saint John, we view
the reality of the Birth of our Lord. God the Son came in our human flesh so that we might
have life and light. He came that we might know God and live with Him now and for
eternity.
He came in poverty and suffering. He came "into the
darkness." Through our faith, we know that the darkness did not overcome His light.
By becoming man, like us in all things but sin, He took upon Himself all aspects of our
life. Our Lord, through the Incarnation, met the darkness of our world, in order to
conquer it through Redemption. In Him we have hope, that through the life and light given
by Him to us in the Church, we will conquer the darkness in our lives and win victory of
eternal life.
There is darkness in the world. He, the little Child, born in
Bethlehem, has conquered it. He conquered it definitively in His Passion, Death and
Resurrection. He desires to conquer the darkness in our personal lives through His
Sacraments, above all, the Holy Eucharist and Penance.
As we celebrate the Birth of Our Lord, be assured of my prayers
for Gods peace and joy for you and your families. May the Child, whose Birth we
celebrate, bring you His hope and bless abundantly your homes throughout the New Year.
Asking Gods blessing upon you and your families, and
requesting a remembrance in your prayers, I remain
Yours devotedly in Christ,
