St. Joseph School Auction

Plans are being made for the annual St. Joseph School Auction that will be held in the spring of 2008. This year we would like to be ahead of the game. We are asking for your help!!!

Starting this month we will be asking for some donated items. Each month we will have a theme. Items that we receive each month will help us put together auction baskets. This month the theme is "KITCHEN". We are asking each and every one of you to bring an item for the kitchen. Please place in the containers provided. We accept new and like new items.

We understand that one cannot donate each time but if we become aware of items that can be used, we can shop for on sale items.

Your continued prayers and support for St. Joseph School is greatly appreciated.

Third Week of Advent
Rejoice!

The third week of Advent begins with Gaudete Sunday. Gaudete, meaning "rejoice", is the first word of the opening antiphon for the Mass on this day: Gaudete in Domino semper (Rejoice in the Lord always). The joy of Gaudete Sunday shows in the use of rose as the liturgical color – for example, on the Advent wreath and the priest’s vestments.

Prayer Starter for Week 3:

Lord, I rejoice at the Good news of Your coming. Make my heart ready.

Advent resounds with the theme of reconciliation and the call to repentance. That call is not about dwelling on our sins and being even more burdened by them, but the opposite: bringing them to God in sorrow and hope for forgiveness.

Join us Monday, December 17th at 7:00 pm for our Advent reconciliation service. Three visiting priests will be available to help us approach Jesus in this sacrament – and to be able to approach him in the Eucharist on Christmas with a renewed heart. If you cannot make it, please visit St. James, Potosi, Mo. on December 18th at 7:00pm.
