School News

On November 19, 2009, Sister Margaret McCulloch and three principals from other Catholic Schools spent the day visiting St. Joseph School as part of our School Improvement Process. The Report of the team included commendations for the parish as well as for the school. We would like to share these commendations with our parish family. Please see insert.

Thank you for all you do to support our parish school.

ST. ANNE CHURCH
FRENCH VILLAGE, MO.

Christmas Party Today

You are invited to join your Church family and enjoy the festivities at our Christmas party which will be held TODAY, December 13th at 4:00 p.m. We ask each family to bring a covered side dish of their choice or a dessert to share. The meat will be provided. There will be games and holiday fun for everyone. We hope to see you and your family.

Giving Tree Ornaments

Give the gift of Christmas joy and choose an ornament from our Christmas tree. Your wonderful generosity gives a child in need a special Christmas. Please remember that these children do not receive a Christmas gift if you choose an ornament and do not bring back a gift to put under the tree. Bring your wrapped presents (with the giving tree tag attached) no later than December 18th. Thank you for giving these children a Merry Christmas.

E W T N

Midnight Mass with Pope Benedict XVI will be broadcast live from St. Peter’s Basilica on December 24th at 6 p.m. EWTN will also telecast Christmas concerts and choral meditations during the month of December.

Daughters of Isabella

The Daughters will meet for a Christmas party on Monday, December 14th starting at 6:30 p.m. with a catered dinner served by the "Heavenly Angels". All husbands and significant others are invited to join us. The cost will be $10 each. All members are asked to bring 2 dozen cookies and soft candy to be used in baskets for our shut-in members. Please bring an attendance prize. You may also bring a gift for the "gift exchange" if you wish to participate ($5 maximum). We will also take up a collection for a needy family.

Please call in your reservation to Claudine at 358-7516 by the 10th of December. Hope to see everyone there! Remember: no regular meeting in December!

Faith For the Future

Blank enrollment cards are available if you have not had an opportunity to pledge. Please drop them in the collection basket or return them to the Parish office. Thank you for your generosity.

Penance Services

Advent resounds with the theme of reconciliation and the call to repentance. That call is not about dwelling on our sins and being even more burdened by them, but the opposite: bringing them to God in sorrow and hope for forgiveness.

The Advent reconciliation services available are:

December 15 St. James

Potosi 7:00 p.m.

December 19 St. Joachim

Old Mines 12-3 p.m.

December 21 St. Joseph 7:00 p.m.

On December 21st, the Christmas Cantata performed by the choir will precede our penance service. We will have 3 visiting priests.

Prayer for Advent

Dear God,

As an Advent candle is lit in joyous anticipation of your Son’s nativity, remind us always of the reason for our joy.As the purple of the candles stand for both  penance and atonement for sin, give us the grace to do penance for our wrongs, and to love Christ, whose sacrifice atoned for the sins of the whole world. But just as the rose candle stands for joy in the midst of suffering and expectation, give us the joy of your Son, Jesus Christ, Who came into a world that had so longed for its Savior, and made the angels themselves sing with joy at His birth. Amen.

Trivia Night

The St. Pius X Alumni will host a Trivia Night on Saturday, January 16, 2010. The cost is $15 per person and beer, soda and snacks will be provided. To make a reservation, please call Paula Napier at 636-931-1939
