A SPECIAL THANKS

Once again, the parishioners of St. Joseph and St. Anne have responded generously, to the needs of us less fortunate during this Advent season of prayer and sacrifice. We have raised close to $2,000.00 for The Bonne Terre Ministerial Alliance. The other churches in town are also contributing to the cause. We will be able to reach our goal of giving the Christmas baskets again this year. May God bless you for your spirit of giving. This year we are asking that you save your old Christmas cards. We use them on the Giving Tree to write down the gifts that are requested. The cards make attractive ornaments for the tree. It would be appreciated if you would drop them off at the Rectory. Every little bit helps!

JOIN THE MISSION
TO HELP END ABORTION

There are prayer booklets available in the Gift Shop. The booklets provide prayers for the support of unborn children and their mothers. We are asking $5.00 per book but all donations are welcome. Proceeds will go to" OUR LADY’S INN" to help support women who choose to give birth.

ST. ANNE PARISH
FRENCH VILLAGE

Did you know…

Many of the area’s older persons reside in dilapidated housing, are at risk for health and social crises and live in unsafe and hazardous conditions. Your support of Catholic Charities Christmas Appeal helps Catholic Charities’ agencies recruit volunteers to do home visits, participate in socialization and educational opportunities regarding the older population, and to help manage older persons’ hypertension, heart disease and other chronic illnesses.

CiCi’s Pizza in Farmington is a great place to eat. Just ask Father John. They have been nice enough to agree to designate the second Monday of the month to St. Joseph School and Church from 3:00p.m. until closing. If you buy a pizza or dine in, just mention St. Joseph’s name at the register and we will receive 10% of the receipts for that evening. Please try to join us Monday, Dec.10th.

For over 100 years, the Archdiocese of St. Louis has been blessed to have our own seminary for the training of future priests. Today 18 other dioceses are sending seminarians to Kenrick-Glennon Seminary for their priestly formation. Help keep our seminary strong as it prepares priests for the third millennium. Please pray for vocations, and please be generous when giving to the Christmas Collection for the Seminary.

Pope John Paul has requested a special day during this Advent season of prayer and fasting for world peace. My suggestion is that we treat Friday, December 14 just like the first day of Lent. We should fast and abstain and pray either privately or at Mass. Let us do this in solidarity with Catholics and Christians throughout the world at the behest of our Holy Father. St. Joseph Church will be open and the Blessed Sacrament exposed from 8:00a.m. until 8:00p.m. on Friday for your convenience. I encourage both the people of St. Anne and the people of St. Joseph to come and pray.

Father John

PLEASE PRAY FOR THE SICK

As you say your daily prayers during this Advent season, please remember to pray for the elderly, the homebound, our parishioners in nursing homes, our men and women in the military, our President and all the world Leaders, peace throughout the world. Please pray especially for Carol Williamson, Robert Whitehead, Margaret Miller and George Bangert.
