Giving Tree Ornaments

Give the gift of Christmas joy and choose an ornament from our Christmas tree. Your wonderful generosity gives a child in need a special Christmas. Please remember that these children do not receive a Christmas gift if you choose an ornament and do not bring back a gift to put under the tree. Bring your wrapped presents (with the giving tree tag attached) no later than December 19th. Thank you for your generosity.

Daughters of Isabella

We will meet in the Church Hall after the
8:00 a.m. Mass on Monday, December 6th, to assemble goodie packages for the
shut-ins.
Please bring cookies. We will have everything else ready to go.

Our Christmas dinner will be held on Monday, December 13th, in the Church Hall. Please call Claudine at 358-7516 or Gretchen at 358-5876 to make your reservation by December 8th. Each member attending should bring a $5.00 attendance prize. If you wish, you may bring a $5.00 gift for the gift exchange.

Stewardship Awareness

"For you do not know on which day your Lord will come." MATTHEW 24:42

Preparations for the Christmas season remind us how much we all want to be generous. We all want to give good gifts to one another. Yet, often when it comes to giving back to God our response is, "Not yet!" We put off sharing our time, talent and treasure for another day. We say we will give when we have more time or more money. Yet, none of us knows when God will come and ask for an accounting of how we used the gifts entrusted to our care. The start of Advent reminds us not to put off our stewardship. The Lord is coming!

Eucharistic Adoration

My Lord Jesus Christ, it is Your great love for us that keeps You day and night present in the Blessed Sacrament, full of compassion and love, waiting for us to visit You. I believe that You are really present in the Sacrament of the Altar. From the depth of my heart, I adore You and I thank You for the many graces You have given me, especially for the gift of Yourself in this Sacrament, for the gift of Your most holy Mother as my Mother and for the privilege of visiting You in this church at this time.

The celebration of the Eucharistic Adoration will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, December 3rd, and conclude with the Benediction at 5:00 p.m.

The Season of Advent

Advent is the season in which we prepare for the great celebration of Jesus’ birth at Christmas. We use the Advent wreath to mark this time leading up to Christmas. The wreath – a circle of evergreen symbolizing God’s eternal love – holds four candles. As we light the four candles, one by one, we are reminded of how God’s light has gradually illumined the world’s darkness through history, culminating in Jesus, the Light of the World.

Christmas Schedule

The Church Christmas schedule with the list of upcoming events is available in your December packet of envelopes. If you did not receive a schedule, please drop by the Parish Office for a copy.

Mission

Thank you to all who have worked very hard getting ready for the Mission. The Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary will be providing the childcare. Sunday evening Fred and Diane Schnable and friends are serving pulled pork and sides. Carol Inman and the Funeral Luncheon Committee are preparing lasagna and salad on Monday. Tuesday we will have the evening session and Penance Service. The St. Joseph Parish Council will serve a supper of Imo’s Pizza and salad. The St. Anne Parish Council will serve soup and sandwich on Wednesday evening. The Daughters of Isabella will prepare a meal of soup and salad on Thursday evening. The Mission will conclude on Thursday evening with Mass and Holy Communion. The Choir will be singing each evening. Many of our PSR and St. Joseph School students will be around helping with the Mission. Please let them know you appreciate seeing them. Please remember that a morning session is available following the 8:00 a.m. Mass.

There is no set fee or charge to the Parish for the Mission. Instead, a free will offering is taken up at the closing Masses: all donations go directly to the support of Catholic Home Study Service,a Vincentian ministry which offers free correspondence courses on the Catholic Faith. Father Lukefahr has been the Director of this ministry since 1991. The offering covers the cost of the Mission and transportation.

We will have copies of the nine books written by Father Lukefahr. A $5.00 donation is suggested to cover the cost of the book. Please remember to pick up a flyer in the back of Church and place it in your car window, mark your calendars, bring family, friends and pray for the success of the Mission.
