School News

In November the classes will have Penny Wars. Pennies are valuable and count as positive numbers, while silver coins negate the pennies. The idea is to put pennies in your classes’ jar, but put silver in the other classes’ jars. The class with the highest positive amount will be served Thanksgiving Dinner by the teachers, and get a casual day on November 25th.

Our students will have an early out at 11:45 a.m. after their Thanksgiving Dinner on Wednesday. School will be closed for Thanksgiving on the 26th and 27th. Classes will resume on Monday.

The school has created a calendar featuring the students. They are wonderful color keepsakes of the parish/school children. The cost is $10.00 per calendar and they will be on sale after each Mass. Please feel free to view and purchase. There are also order forms available and would make wonderful Christmas gifts.

Thanksgiving Prayer

Dear Lord, on this Thanksgiving Day,
please bring us not only good food and memories but help us remember that it is You we are thanking. When we enjoy our meal with our relatives, may we thank You, who brings all food from the earth. When we enjoy the company of relatives and friends, may we thank You, the source of all life and happiness. And when we pray our prayer of blessing, may our hearts be on You, who is the source of all holiness, joy, and every blessing that is showered on us. Amen.

A Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families from Father John and the Staff.

Masses for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph at 8:00 a.m. and St. Anne’s Thanksgiving Mass will be at 9:30 a.m.

The Parish Office will be closed Thursday and Friday in observance of Thanksgiving.

Faith For the Future

O Lord our God, you are the source of all goodness. We ask you to bless our efforts in this work of charity of supporting our seminary, our seminarians and our entire faith community in the Archdiocese of St. Louis. You have called your priests to serve you and your people. You now call each of us to show our trust in your promise that you will always be with your Church. Give us generous hearts as we respond to the needs of our time. May the Holy Spirit guide us that our efforts may be for your honor and glory.

Please stop by after the Masses this weekend and sign your pledge card downstairs.

Catholic Campaign for
Human Development

We have received the following letter:To the Faithful of the Archdiocese of St. Louis

For nearly 40 years, The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) has worked to empower low-income families and individuals. Since 1970, CCHD has funded community groups that create affordable housing, obtain fair wages, provide job training, and support other projects in which the poor implement their own solutions to the problems they face.

This year, our call as Catholics is more important than ever. Pope Benedict XVI, in his address to the diplomatic corps in January 2009, encouraged us to build a healthy economy based on the innate dignity of the human person.

While the campaign has had its critics over the years, it has been successful in assisting many of those in need and fostering self-help programs at the "grass root" level.

I encourage you to give generously to the Catholic Campaign for Human Development on the weekend of November 21-22, 2009, and know of my gratitude for your support.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Most Reverend Robert J. Carlson
Archbishop of St. Louis
