The "MERCHANDISE MADDNESS" was a huge success. We
deposited $714.00. Thanks to everyone who supported our fund raiser.
"All that you see here- the days will come when there will
not be left a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down."
Luke 21:6
Thanks to the effort of a billion dollar advertising industry, our
material expectations, continue to rise year after year. Yet, today, speaking about the
end of time, Jesus reminds us that all the material possessions we spend our time and
energy to accumulate will become nothing but rubble in the end. What will really matter
will be the time we spend on improving our relationship with our God.
MATTHEW 5-7 HOW TO BE HAPPY
WEEK 4 - JUST BETWEEN YOU AND GOD
Jesus has urged us to grasp the purpose of Gods
commands to see Gods vision of right living and social justice and to pursue
this vision. In the fourth week of our series on the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus urges us
to grasp the purpose of religious practices, such as charitable aid, prayer, and fasting.
The purpose of these actions is to bring others and us closer to God. We do not fast, or
pray, or give alms to win praise from others or to build up our reputations. Religious
acts should focus on God. They should display his goodness, not ours.
ST. JOSEPH RELIGIOUS ARTICLE GIFT SHOP will be open before and
after the 4:00p.m. Mass every Saturday. Now that the Christmas season is approaching stop
by and look at the variety of religious articles that would make lovely gifts.
We have a few Christmas Cards left from last year. The cards
feature a beautiful picture of the inside of St. Joseph Church and a brief history. These
are Christmas cards that anyone would enjoy getting. We are offering a special price of
$10.00.
If you would like, a special time can be set with Mrs. Crosswhite
to meet you if Saturday is not convenient.
GIVING TREE
The Giving Tree will once again be part of our Christmas
celebration. We are now taking names for the Tree. Please take note as we will take names
up to and including December 13, 2004. All gifts must be placed under the Tree no later
than December 17, 2004. On Saturday, December 18th the gifts and food baskets
will be distributed.
A few vacancies are now open
in our preschool. Please call the school office is you are interested in enrolling your
child in St. Josephs preschool. The registration fee is $25.00 and the weekly
tuition fee is $50.00. Children will be considered for enrollment on a first come- first
serve basis.
