RCIA classes for those wishing to join or tolearn more about the Catholic faith will start Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. in the meeting room in the Church hall.

Sing for God

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Come and join our choir and sing the praises of God. We are in need of additional choir members and welcome everyone. You don’t have to be a professional; you just have to love to sing.

Funeral Luncheons

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to work the luncheons. We also appreciate the generosity of the many parishioners who have offered to donate food. If you would like to participate in this worthy cause, please contact Carol Inman at 358-5105.

Hog Shoot

The Annual Hog Shoot at St. Anne Parish will be held this year on Sunday, October 25, 2009. The winners of the cash raffle will be chosen. The first prize is $300.00; the second prize is $150.00; and the third prize is $75.00. You will also have a chance to win half a hog with a spin of the wheel. The Shoot will open at 11:00 a.m. Refreshments will be served. Mark your calendars for this event.

St. Anne – Poster Contest

Let’s be creative! The Country Store will sponsor a Halloween Poster Contest for the children of the parish ages 14 and under. The project should be on poster board or paper no larger than 11x14. Names should not be on the project; a number will be given when it is turned in. Those in attendance will do judging on the day of the Hog Shoot. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded. You do not need to be present to win.

October is Breast Cancer
Awareness Month

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month educates women about the importance of early detection. More and more women are getting mammograms to detect breast cancer in its earliest stages. As a result, breast cancer deaths are on the decline. Please encourage the women in your life to get mammograms on a regular basis.

Daughters of Isabella

REMINDER: Our semiannual Rummage Sale will be on Saturday, November 7th, in the Church Hall. We will gladly take any donations, large or small. Our next monthly meeting will be on Monday, October 12th at 7: 00 p.m. with rosary at 6:45 p.m.

Knights of Columbus

Let us do the cooking! The Knights will serve four kinds of fish, string beans, hush puppies, French fries and cole slaw for your dining pleasure. Award winning homemade desserts will complete the menu. Bring your family and friends and enjoy a great meal at a great price this Friday, October 16th, 2009. Serving starts at 4:00 p.m.

Month of Mary

October is the month of Mary. Have you said your rosary today? "Say the Rosary every day to obtain peace for the world" (Our Lady of Fatima). Pope Pius XII has directed that after each decade the Fatima Prayer may be said: "O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those who are in most need of They mercy". You can join us on Thursday mornings after the 8:00 a.m. Mass or before the Saturday evening Mass. Please use these opportunities for prayer.

World Mission Sunday

Next Sunday, Pope Benedict XVI calls every Catholic in the world to celebrate our vocation to be a missionary. As Catholics around the world--here at home and in the missions--gather at the Eucharist, we are to pray for the Church’s worldwide missionary work. We pray for those awaiting the "good news" of our Lord’s great love for us and for the missionaries who offer the poor and suffering the light of Christ. We can offer financial help through the Society of the Propagation of the Faith for more than 1,150 dioceses in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Pacific Islands. Your generosity will help make a faith-filled difference around the world.

Walk for Life Walk-a-thon

Each year our Walk for Life is a simple way each one of us can impact a life. This year the Walk starts at 9:00 a.m. at Parkland Pregnancy Regional Center on October 17th in Park Hills.

Anyone can take part either as an individual or family. The funds raised go directly to families

in need in our community. Life is priceless, so partner with us to raise much needed funds to continue these vital services. Walk brochures are available in the back of Church after each Mass.

Please pick up a pledge card if you can walk and/or sponsor a donation. For further info, call Pat

Schwarz at 573-562-2819 or Autumn Stegall at 573-358-0868. Pat and Autumn are our St. Joseph Pro-Life Representatives.
