"Come there is
work to be done"

"Son, go out and work in the vineyard, today." – Matthew 21-28 God does not invite us to do His work. He commands us, "Go out and work in the vineyard." How can we work in God’s vineyard when we have job and family responsibilities? We can follow God’s command through prayer, sharing some of our talents in parish ministry and donating some of the income we make at your jobs to support God’s special work in this world.

Ole’ Fashion Chicken Fry

St. Joseph’s Parish in Farmington is holding an ole’ fashioned chicken fry scheduled for Saturday, October 11th, 2008. All proceeds from this event will benefit the pilgrims traveling to Washington D.C for the 36th annual March for Life.

A BIG Thank You

Thank you to the volunteer Bingo Committee for their generous donation of $10,000.00 to our school.

Coat Drive

Ministerial Alliance will be giving away free winter coats starting October 13, 2008 thru October 31, 2008 at the helping hands store. We need volunteers to work from 5:00 p to 7:00 p weekdays only and we need donations of winter coats too. There will be boxes located at the entrance of church for all donated coats, please go through your winter coats and see what you can give this season. The sign up sheet will be in the back of church for volunteers.

Please support your local advertisers who make this bulletin possible!

Liturgical Changes

I recently received a communication from the chancery concerning the bishops’ changes to our liturgical wording. In the next few weeks I will publish the suggested changes one at a time. We’ll ease into this as gently as possible. It is what is being asked of us and as your pastor I encourage you to comply.

Number 2:

In the Nicene Creed the opening word, Credo, will be correctly translated as "I believe" rather than "we believe."

Special Collection

There will be a special collection this weekend throughout the Archdiocese of St. Louis to financially support the formation program for the Permanent Diaconate. This collection helps to ensure that those in formation receive the best education and guidance possible during the 5 year formation process. Please consider being a generous contributor. Without the financial support from people like you, the formation program for our Permanent Diaconate would not be what it is today. Thank you for your continued support of those who are discerning whether God is calling them to service as a deacon.

The Pregnancy Resource Center

"Walk for life Walkathon"

The Pregnancy Resource Center in Farmington will be sponsoring its 3rd annual "Walk for Life Walkathon" to raise money to support their ministry to pregnant women and their unborn babies.

We are looking for volunteers from our parish to walk on Saturday, October 11. We will only be walking 2 miles through downtown Farmington so all ages can participate and it will only take about 1 hour of your time. Starting time will be 9 am at the lot of the First Free Will Baptist Church (across the street from the Pregnancy Resource Center office, 201 N. A Street.)

If you are unable to walk at that time, you can walk at your convenience anytime before 10-11-08. If you can’t walk but would like to make a donation, or have any questions, please contact Paulette DeGonia at 358-4041.
