STEWARDSHIP ALIVE!
" You have lived on earth in luxury and pleasure; you have fattened your hearts for
the day of slaughter."
(James 5:5)
Many of us collect the good things in life, without every
questioning if our increasing luxury is pleasing in Gods eyes. We are like sheep
following the lure of advertising rather than sheep following the Good Shepherd. Today
take a moment to ask if you are following where God leads or are you bogged down by
earthly possessions.
HOW MUCH TIME DOES GOD GET?
God has blessed each of us with 1,440 minutes in every day
and 10,080 minutes in every week. How many of those minutes do we give back to God each
week? Studies show that the majority of our time goes to sleeping, working and watching
TV. In fact, typically over 1,000 minutes a week or about 10% of our time goes to watching
TV. In contrast, how much time does God get? Typically, less than 100 minutes or less than
1% of our time is devoted to spiritual activities like prayer, spiritual reading,
Eucharistic Adoration or volunteering.
Your Personal Intention Card for this years Stewardship
Program was mailed Monday, Sept. 25th. Please complete it and return it this
weekend. If you are new to the parish and did not receive a letter in the mail, please
contact the office at 358-2112. We have additional cards that are available for pick up.
By returning this card to your parish you will help us with our budgeting and planning for
the next year.
If you can give some of your time, we have a few areas in special
need of volunteers: Church Cleaners, Members for the Choir, Festival Committee, Quilters,
Vacation Bible School, Daughters of Isabella, and Our Ladys Sodality. Any attention
to these areas will be greatly appreciated. The other Ministries and Organizations are
also important so please consider them. |
ST. ANNE CHURCH,
FRENCH VILLAGE, MO.
Welcome to our annual HAM & TURKEY SHOOT. Enjoy the Home Made
Chili and Desserts. We also have Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Soda and free Coffee all day. We
will begin at 11:00a.m. until ?
Dear brothers and sisters,
Once again I must compliment and thank you on the success of a job
well done. You came together from St. Anne and St. Joseph and even from outside the parish
to work for a common goal. The Fall Festival was a success. We saw some new faces and some
familiar ones. The chicken was delicious and we received more complements on the kettle
beef than ever before. Good job guys! The raffle gave the winner, Mr. Bill Block a total
of $662.00.God blessed us with decent weather and everyone had a good time. People on the
grounds told me that they enjoyed themselves more at St. Joseph and St. Anne than other
places and that the food was better.
An anonymous donor has given a check in the amount of $400.00 to
the Golf Tournament in honor of Monkey Pratte. This brings the grand total up to
$10,000.00. I am proud to be your pastor.
God bless,
Congratulations to Rich & Carole King on their 50th
wedding anniversary. Rich & Carole were married on September 29, 1956 at Sts. Peter
and Paul Church in St. Louis, Mo. They have four children and five grandchildren. Rich
& Carole retired in 1998. When you see them be sure to wish them well!!
