ST. ANNE CHURCH,
FRENCH VILLAGE, MO.

The Food Pantry is one of the most caring things that we do as a parish.  We are low on all canned items.  I would ask that you bring any donated items up to the Church Hall on Monday and Friday morning before noon.   Our faithful volunteers will be here at this time. We are not going to have a general collection.  I ask that you do not leave them at the doors of the Church or Rectory.

                                                  God Bless,                                                 Father John

Our first Tailgate Sale was a huge success.  Thank you to all who worked so hard to bring this together and those of you who contributed so generously.  Our regular monthly meeting will be Tuesday, August 20th. at 5:45 p.m. starting with a Chili Supper.  We will have a short meeting and then  start working on the lap blankets for the shut- ins.  Thursday, August 22, our Eucharistic Ministers and teams will visit the shut-ins.

Thanks to the generosity of both St. Joseph and St. Anne Parish.  A total of $7,397.55 was collected and forwarded to the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund.  May God bless all of you for your generosity.

ONE CHURCH – FAITHFUL AND GENEROUS

We are not merely members of individual parishes.  We are members of One Church, the Body of Christ.  Our identity does not come from the parish in which we pray.  Our identity comes from the God to who we pray.  Our God calls each of us to use the unique gifts He has given us to build up the Body of Christ – the  One Church.

Following God’s call to stewardship is not easy.  It is especially difficult to bring our gifts when we feel sad or wounded.   To share our gifts with God first takes great trust and faith.  To share our gifts even when we are hurting or confused is a sign of being truly faithful.

When we do recognize that everything we have is a gift from God, including our parishes, we realize that we have an obligation to share or to give back some of those gifts.  In gratitude for our gifts we are able to be generous.

“Do nothing out of selfishness or out of vainglory; rather humbly regard others as more important than yourselves, each looking out not for his own interest, but also for those of others.”

                PHILIPPIANS 2:3-4

Individually we may not feel that we can do much to help those in need.  However, when we come together as a Church community, combining our many gifts, we can make a real difference.  Thus, St. Paul’s advice is still so important to us today.  We must stop thinking selfishly and learn the joy and the power of living faithfully and generously, united together in One Church.
