25TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

The person who is trustworthy in very small matters is also trustworthy in great ones:…If you are not trustworthy with what belongs to another, who will give you what is yours?”

Luke 16:10,12

Everything we have belongs to God.  God entrusted each of us with unique gifts and talents, trusting that we would use them to do God’s work here on earth.  If we do not strive to put God first in our schedule and our budgets then we betray the trust God placed in us.  When we do put God first in our schedules and our budgets we feel the wonderful joy that comes when we know we have done what is right and pleasing to Our Heavenly Father.

HOW TO BE HAPPY   (MATTHEW 5-7)

            SIGN UP TODAY!

If you would like to join a small group of adults who are seeking ways to deepen their understanding of Sacred Scripture and grow in faith and discipleship, we invite you to take advantage of a special opportunity to reflect on the teaching of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount recorded in the Gospel of Matthew and discover new ways to connect these teachings with daily life.  We invite you to sign up for Matthew 5-7: How To Be Happy, the first offering in a new program on Scripture we are offering this fall to all the adults of our parish.

This program will be offered on Tuesday mornings  in the meeting room down stairs and on Wednesday’s immediately following the 8:00 a.m. Mass.  Sign up sheets will be available after all the Masses this weekend.  Please sign up for the most convenient time for you.

Matthew 5-7:  How to Be HappyNEW SCRIPTURE STUDY PROGRAM BEGINS WEEK OF OCTOBER 10!

Catholic Perspectives:
Six Weeks with the Bible

Is an introductory Catholic Scripture study series for busy people.  It is the perfect resource for adults who are seeking ways to deepen their faith but cannot find the time to commit to long-term programs.  Catholic Perspectives highlights the meaning of passages from Sacred Scripture in relation to Catholic Tradition while giving participants opportunities to reflect on how the teachings of Scripture apply to daily life.

Each book in the series offers small groups of adults a six-week program of ninety-minute sessions.   Each session combines Scripture readings, guides to the readings, questions for discussion and faith sharing, suggestions for prayer, supplementary readings.  The program selected for fall 2004 will invite participants to reflect on the teachings of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount.  The booklet we will use is entitled Matthew 5-7:  How to Be Happy.

This resource will be an excellent tool for adult Catholics of all ages: parents, teachers, and catechists; inquires, candidates, and catechumens in the Christian Initiation process (RICA); and all adults and young adults who are searching for ways to grow in faith.

Each session in the series uses a small-group format and invites participants to learn to pray, to share faith, and to grow in discipleship as they grow in their understanding of the teachings of Jesus.  We encourage all the adults and young adults of our parish to take advantage of this opportunity to learn, to grow in faith, and to meet some very nice people.
