There will be a special collection on Sunday, September 14, 2008
for the Festival Food Drive. The envelopes for this special collection were mailed to you.
These donations are tax deductable as long as you write in your envelope number. As you
know the cost of our annual Festival Dinner is quite expensive and all financial donations
are greatly appreciated.
Golf Tournament
St. James Catholic Church, 210 N. Missouri St. Potosi, MO. Will be
hosting their annual Golf Tournament on September 26, 2008 at the beautiful Fourche Valley
Golf Course west of Potosi on Hwy 8. There will be 3-person teams. Food will be served all
day. Winners will be in flights. If you can not golf and want to help them you may sponsor

The D of I International Convention was held in St. Louis from
August 3, 2008 to August 6, 2008. Members from the U.S. and Canada converged to share
their faith, ideas, and goals. Regent Jenny Akins, Secretary Gretchen Pratte, and
Treasurer Claudine Willette attended this inspiring biennial event.
The next workshop is coming up on Sept. 12 -14, in Monroe City,
MO., hosted by Msgr. Connolly Circle. It’s not too late to sign up and carpooling is
available. Call Jenny at 358-5305, or Claudine at 358-7516.
Our next regular meeting is September 8th at 7:00 p.m. We are
collection baby items for the shower at the workshop. Please bring those to the meeting.
Also, birthdays May thru August will be celebrated with cake and gifts. See you there!
VMY News
Sunday evening September 14, 6 pm, is the date for the next Vincentian
Marian Youth Encounter at the Shrine Church in Perryville, MO. The evening will
consist of our Annual Outdoor Mass at the Grotto and our annual freshman welcome
with pizza and hayride. The Mass will feature contemporary Christian music with Fr.
Ricky Valleroy, CM as the Mass celebrant. VMY events are geared for teens and young adults
but all ages are free and welcome to come! Remember to bring your chairs or blankets to
sit on! Hope to see you there!
You’re Invited
St. Joachim Parish (Old Mines) will be holding its annual Fall
Festival on Sunday, September 14, 2008, beginning at 11:00 am. Friend Chicken and Roast
Beef dinners will be served in our air-conditioned school hall from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
We will also have an outdoor Hamburger Stand, Roasted Corn on the Cob, Live music all day,
Bingo, Raffles, Country Store, Children’s games and contests, along with activities
for all ages. St. Joachim is located on Highway 21 at Old Mines, MO. Join is for a day of
fun and games!
Mother/ Daughter &
Father/Son Programs at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center
St. John’s Mercy Medical Center will present two
Mother/ Daughter Teas and two Father/Son: Boys Into Men Programs.
The programs, developed by the Department of Fertility Care
Services, are presented to girls and their mothers (or guardians) and boys and their
fathers (or guardians) by Registered Nurses, Doctors and a panel including teens. They
emphasize respect, understanding, and appreciation of sexuality while encouraging
parent/child communication.
The Mother/ Daughter Teas will be held on Sunday, September 28th
(for 10-12 year old) from 1:00 -4:00 p.m. and on Sunday, November 16th (for 13-17 year
olds) from 1:00 -4:00p.m.
The Father/Son: Boys Into Men (for 11-12 year olds) will be held
on Sunday, October 19th from 1:00 -3:30 p.m. and (for 13-17 year olds) on Sunday, November
9th from 1:00- 4:00 p.m.
All programs will be held in the VonGontard Conference Center at
St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, 615 South New Ballas Road.
The cost, which includes a light meal, is $30.00 per family.
