St. Joseph School News

Our Open House was a huge success. Returning students, parents, and teachers became reacquainted with each other, and helped welcome the new students and their families.

Some new familiar faces will be assisting us at St. Joseph School. Please join us in welcoming them. Matt Haug – Physical Education; Peggy Couchman – Library; Robyn Pace -Music/After School Care ; Amanda Overman – Art, Classroom Aid and After School Care.

We are blessed to have these people and a parish family who support our school with such caring and dedication.

A Reason for Celebrating

On Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at 7:30 pm, Mark A. Byington, our candidate for the Diaconate, is scheduled to be admitted as a Candidate for Holy Orders during Mass at the St. Vincent de Paul Chapel in the Cardinal Rigali Center. Father John will join Archbishop Burke in concelebrating the Mass of installation. A simple reception will follow.

With this liturgical celebration Mark officially becomes a candidate in the Diaconate formation process, a step he takes after two full years in discerning a call to public ministry. Mark will have three more years of training and discerning before possible ordination in the spring of 2010.

You are invited to join Mark, his family, and the formation community for this joyful occasion.

Please keep Mark and his family in your prayers as he continues his journey of formation.

Prayer for Students

Dear God,

Although you made Thomas Aquinas, the patron of students, among the greatest and wisest of teachers, even he needed to begin his journey toward You as a student himself. When we are tempted to neglect our education, be it at school, work, or in life, give us the grace to persevere in Your lessons to us. When tempted to believe we ‘know it all’ about anything, gently guide us toward the virtue of humility. And when tempted to teach others before we are ready, lead us away from the vice of arrogance. Make us more like You every day, and help us always to accept your will and instruction.

Amen.

Special Thanks

Dorothy Gouin has generously donated the wooden bookstand holding the Sacramentary that rests on the altar. Dorothy we thank you!
