Thank you to Barb Krull and her committee for the delicious
dinner. We also had birthday cake and ice cream - Betty Eich won the birthday gift.
Baby shower gifts for Birthright was a huge success. Gifts and
monies collected will be turned in at the State Workshop in September. Thanks to all you
girls!
The new Dinner Committee and Phone List are in the back of Church.
If for some reason you are unable to get one, please call Janet Mecey at 358-0684.
Ladies! It is once again time to plan our annual retreat at Kings
House. The retreat will run October 8th thru 10th. Reservations have
to be in by September 6th. This year we will have a bus so that we will not
have to car pool. For more information please call your Team Captain, Margaret Scott at
358-0537. If you are not sure you can make it you still need to sign up. If something
comes up later and you cannot go, your name will be removed and put on a standby list. We
are allowed 25 people this year.
Please, remember this is your opportunity to spend some quiet time
with God. In this day and time it is something we all could use!

PSR classes will begin the week of September 12th.
Kindergarten through sixth grade will meet on Sunday, September 12th
from 9:00a.m. – 9:45 a.m. in the school building.
Grades seven through twelve will meet on Wednesday, September 15th
from 6:30p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in the meeting room of the church rectory.
To pre-register fill out a registration form found in the back of
Church and return it to the church office or to Jamie Weiss. We hope to have all students
registered by Monday, August 22nd so that we can order supplies and materials.
Just a reminder, in order to receive the sacraments of
Reconciliation and the Eucharist, students must have participated in a formal religion
program for two years including the preparation year.
There is a $15.00 registration fee per student that is required
prior to the start of classes. Please make checks payable to St. Joseph Parish.
FOREVER
The line is "Nothing is
forever …" We have had a wonderful tradition of providing a luncheon for
the family of a deceased parishioner. This tradition was first begun years ago by the
Daughters of Isabella. They provided a luncheon for the family of their deceased member
when they passed to their reward. Out of their generosity it was expanded to every family
of a deceased member of the parish if they requested a luncheon.
However, now we are forced to suspend this tradition, not for a
lack of money or food but for a lack of personnel. But nothing is forever!
The Funeral Committee was made up of a leader and teams that could
be called when the need arose. At first the ladies and men would usually have to work only
one or two funerals a year. We are now down to a precious few and they have informed me
that they couldn’t be counted on so frequently in the future. That is our problem. We
are in need of someone to head the Funeral Committee and we are in need more volunteers.
Until we solve this temporary problem we will not be providing a
luncheon. We will offer the use of the Hall to the family of the deceased and it will be
up to the family to arrange the funeral luncheon.
I am trusting in your generosity and that the grace of God will
help all of us to serve the Lord in the future.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Father John
