School News
Welcome Back!

We are currently accepting registration for the fall school year 2009/2010. The registration fee is $75.00 for kindergarten through 6th grade. The Catholic family rate is $3,100.00 per year. The tuition for non-Catholic families is $3,620.00 per year. Tuition is payable by MasterCard/Visa, cash or check. School will start this Wednesday, August 19, 2009.

CFCA

On the weekend of August 22-23, Father Richard Tillman, a retired priest of the Archdiocese will be here to visit with us about the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging. He will  speak to us about sponsoring a young child in South America. CFCA provides a practical way for us to live out the social teachings of the Church. It can help us grow in grace by walking with the poor. I would encourage you to listen to and support CFCA as we have done in the past.

Stewardship
Resolutions for Stewards

I resolve to trust God more, believing that in His wisdom and abundance He will give me all that I need.

I resolve to spend more time with God, giving a few more minutes of each day to prayer, worship and spiritual reading.

I resolve to find more ways to share my unique skills and talents so that my special strengths will make a difference in the world.

I resolve to give a generous share of my treasure to God’s work here on earth, making this the first check that I write each week or each month.

Angela Momot will witness at all the Masses this weekend on behalf of the Stewardship Program.

Please return your personal intention cards. If you do not have one, they are available at the exits to the Church this weekend. Please fill the card out and return in the basket or to the Parish Office.

On August 23, our telephone committee will begin to contact those who have not returned their cards. We are aiming for an 80% response this year.

Knights of Columbus

Let us do the cooking! The finest cooks in Bonne Terre will prepare four kinds of fish, macaroni and cheese, green beans, stewed tomatoes and slaw for your dining pleasure. Award winning homemade desserts will complete the menu. Bring your family and friends and enjoy a great meal at a great price on Friday, August 21st. Serving starts at  4:00 p.m. and carryouts are available. Adults are $7.50 and children are $3.00 per plate. Bring your appetite! The proceeds will be donated to St. Joseph School.

Baptisms

Please welcome into our parish family Cali Madelyn Cooley, the daughter of Albert and Mary Pace Cooley, who received the sacrament of Baptism on August 9, 2009. May God continue to bless her on her spiritual journey of Faith.

Festival 2009
September 20, 2009

The picnic is just around the corner and the Country Store will open its doors this year with a few changes. We will have a Silent Auction and raffle off a grocery cart full of food. Donations of homemade jams, jellies, and breads; flowers; fresh vegetables; quilts; fancy work, etc. will be much appreciated. We will also be making small and large size baskets of shampoos, lotions, personal care items, kitchen items, picnic items, etc. for sale. If you can donate any of these items and/or small or laundry size baskets, please call Janet Mecey at 358-0684 or Ruth Hunt at 358-3733.

Our first Festival meeting was held July 28 and we are ready to hit the ground running. The prizes for the raffle will be the same as last year and the tickets have been ordered. We will use billboards (including the electronic billboard in Farmington), yard signs and radio promotion spots to advertise our Festival. In addition to live music and some new exotic specialty foods, we will have an exciting thrill a minute ride for the brave of heart. Watch this bulletin for more clues.

Benefit Golf Tournament

Come and enjoy a great day at the golf tournament! We guarantee a fabulous party. Our very own beautiful Terre Du Lac will host the Seventeenth Annual Benefit Golf Tournament on this Friday, August 21st. All of our teams have been filled, however, you may sponsor a hole for $50.00. We welcome all donations and are in particular need of items for the baskets to be auctioned after the dinner. Any and all goodies, i.e. spa baskets (guys and gals), pet baskets, and gift certificates from our local shops, diners and florists would be very much appreciated. As always, you are all invited to attend the dinner and auction at the Terre Du Lac Pavilion. A Dinner only ticket may be purchased for $15.00.

Father John, the staff and students of St. Joseph School wish to express their gratitude to the golf teams, our sponsors, and all of you who make this golf tournament such a wonderful success every year. A special thank you also to Dude Pratte and Butch Miles for all of their time and hard work that they invest in this fundraiser.
