Next to the Bible. An important resource of Catholic beliefs and practices is the Catechism of the Catholic Church. You may not read it cover to cover, but the glossary and detailed index make it easy to locate answers quickly. The Catechism can be ordered from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, 3211 Fourth Street, NE. Washington, DC 20017-1194 (202) 541 3000.

You may also enjoy the easy – to – read Essential Catholic Handbook series published by Ligouri Publications. Very user-friendly, these references are indexed to the Catechism, so they make great companions to it. This series can be ordered from the publisher, Liguouri Publications. These references are also available at most Catholic bookstores.

NOTA BENE

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE

The Office of Worship has received many requests from parishes for a concise description of the changes in the new General Instruction of Roman Missal.

Deacon Ron outlined these in his homily and this week let us revisit another one.

THE ASSEMBLY

The faithful should observe silence in preparation for the celebration of Mass in the church, sacristy, vesting room, and in adjacent areas so that all may dispose themselves for Mass.

The faithful should bow during the creed at the words "by the power of the Holy Spirit."

The faithful should stand after the celebrant says the "Pray brother and sisters…" and before the response"May the Lord…"

The faithful should kneel from the singing of the Sanctus until after the Amen.

The faithful should offer the Sign of Peace only to those nearest to them.

The faithful should kneel after the singing of the Agnus Dei.

The communicant is to bow his or her head before receiving the Body of the Lord and again when receiving the Precious Blood.

Please welcome to our parish family Patrick Thomas McDowell. May God bless him on his pilgrimage of faith and may her family continue to lead him and be a witness to God’s love.
