Tithing

Throughout sacred scripture God tells us that everything belongs to God. He made the world and all that is in it. He made us and blessed us with absolutely every gift we have. Our lives, our families, our health, our education, our unique talents and skills, our job and our income are all blessings from God, entrusted into our care for the good of all peoples. Thus, when we tithe we are really only giving back 10% of something that ultimately belongs to God anyway. The amazing thing is that our God is a generous and abundant God who lets us keep and enjoy 90% of all His blessings.

Learn About the Early Church

Who first used "Catholic" in describing the Church? What heresy almost destroyed it in its infancy? How did the structure of the Church develop? What early Church council did the real Santa Claus attend? Learn the answers and more

in a discussion group on the first 400 years of the Church. It will start in September, possibly on Tuesday evenings. If interested, please call Geoffrey Pratte at 358-5876. We need to know how many might attend so that we can plan for materials.

Peter’s Pence Collection

Today we recall the apostolic journey of Pope Benedict XVI to the United States and his call to us to cast the light of Christ upon the world. We can show our solidarity with the Holy Father and our suffering brothers and sisters abroad through our support of this week’s collection. These funds allow him to provide emergency assistance to victims of war, disaster, oppression, and disease. Please be generous in today’s Peter’s Pence Collection.

July 4 – Independence Day

Father John and the staff wish you a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July weekend.
In observance of the holiday, the parish office will be closed on Friday, July 3, 2009.

Eucharistic Adoration

"The Church and the world have a great need of Eucharistic Worship. Jesus waits for us in this sacrament of love. Let us be generous with our time in going to meet Him in adoration and in contemplation that is full of faith and ready to make reparation for the great faults and crimes of the world. May our adoration never cease."

Pope John Paul II

The celebration of the Eucharistic Adoration will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, July 3, and conclude with the Benediction at 5:00 p.m. Please sign up for your time to be spent with the Lord.
