Just Faith Workshop

Do you ever wonder how to live your faith in today’s complex world? Living our faith and understanding today’s challenges takes reflection, study, prayer, and community. All of these are offered in the JustFaith program, an intensive program that helps answer these questions. Consider joining a group that starts this fall. Come learn more on Saturday morning, June 20, at St. Francis Xavier (College) Church. Please call Pat Dougherty at 314-504-3669 for more details or visit www.ccstl.org or email Pat at pdougherty@ccstl.org.

ST. ANNE CHURCH
FRENCH VILLAGE,MO.

Picnic – 2009

It is that time again! Mark your calendar for Sunday, June 7, 2009, and share in the fun and fellowship of the St. Anne Picnic, French Village. Come and enjoy a feast of fried chicken, kettle beef served with potatoes and gravy, liver dumplings, and all the trimmings. Dine in our air-conditioned hall or outside in the screened in area. There will be games for adults and children, Bingo, and a Live Band. The raffle prizes include $1,000 cash, a 19" color TV, and beautiful handmade and machine quilts. Our Country Store/Fancy Stand will be open. Dinner and fun will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue until 5:00 p.m.

\Picnic Prep

The ladies of the parish will be gathering at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, to do food prep. We are asking each family to bring 3 or more cakes (preferably homemade) the morning of the picnic. Any and all help in the kitchens and dining areas will be greatly appreciated. Please call Mary Beth Werner at 573-483-9693. Thank you in advance for your help.

2009 Annual Catholic Appeal

Please support the 2009 Annual Catholic Appeal. You will never know the impact your gift will make in someone’s life. Maybe your gift will help a family going through a difficult time, maybe right here in your own parish. Your gift could help lower tuition for the families of the children in our school, thus, giving them a good Catholic education. Your gift no matter how small or large is important. If you have not been able to pick up your pledge card, our volunteers will try to reach you by phone or mail in order that you may be given an opportunity to return your pledge card.

Memorial Day

In observance of the holiday, the parish office and the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry will be closed Monday, May 25. Father John and the staff wish you a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend.

Parish School of Religion

Our Parish School of Religion will begin its program in September. It is our privilege to help you as parents train your children in the ways of faith. Once again class will be held on Sunday morning in order to give you and your children an opportunity to attend the 10:00 a.m. Mass together after the classes.

Next year our coordinators will be Kim Bess and Rick Black. They will be taking over from Mr. Jamie Weiss, who has been our coordinator for the last number of years. I would personally like to thank and I am sure that the entire parish would also like to express their gratitude for his time and effort in training your children. Thanks Jamie for a job well done.

We will be preparing students for the sacrament of Confirmation. If your child will be entering grades seven or higher, he/she will be enrolled in the Confirmation class. Mrs. Dawn Krus will be teaching that class, but parent involvement will be a necessary component of the program. Another component of Confirmation is community service. Students must log a number of hours of community service before receiving the sacrament. If your child is planning to participate in any community service this summer, I would encourage you to log the hours in some way so that they may be used to fulfill this requirement.

      Ascension of Our Lord

The Feast of Ascension Thursday will be observed today, the Seventh Sunday of Easter.

Catholic Home Missions

Our mission dioceses need funding for ministerial training, seminaries, and religious education in order to nurture the faith and administer basic pastoral care. To learn more about how your help can make a difference through Catholic Home Missions, visit www.usccb.org/nationalcollections. Please give generously in today’s Catholic Home Missions Appeal.
