Catholic Home Missions

Today’s special collection is the Catholic Home Mission Appeal. It supports missions in the United States.

The Catholic Home Missions Appeal offers Catholics across our country a wonderful opportunity to help fellow Catholics practice their faith in such rugged areas as Alaska, Appalachia, the Deep South, the Rocky Mountains states, the Southwest, Puerto Rico, and island dioceses in the Pacific and Caribbean.

This Appeal is a concrete way for our parish to share its faith and resources with the mission Church at home. Over 95 cents of every dollar donated to the Appeal goes directly to the missions to keep church doors open, to support pastors in their priestly ministry, and to provide basic pastoral services like religious education for children.

Please give generously today to assist fellow Catholics in America. It’s one practical way our parish community can be good stewards of God’s gifts and make a difference.

Prayer for Mothers

Dear God,

On this day that we honor mothers,
may we draw strength from the mothers who went before us. May we remember Jochebed, mother of Moses, who gave her son over to God’s providence when forces that threatened him were beyond her control.

May we remember the mother of Mary, St, Anne, who helped her daughter learn a openness to God’s will.
May we remember St. Monica,
who suffered an abusive spouse and her son’s poor choices,
but lived to see her child’s return to God.
Most of all, we remember Mary.
Though she watched her child suffer and die,she also saw his resurrection and glory
and was in turn glorified by Him.

Amen.

A special blessing for mothers will be given at all the Masses this weekend.

Birthright Inc.

Mother’s Day is May 11th. We have beautiful Mother’s Day Cards from Birthright of Hillsboro available in the back of our Church. Take one or more cards and send your donation to Hillsboro Birthright by using the self-addressed envelope inside the card. Your donation is used to help an expectant mother give life to her baby. What a wonderful gift you are giving. God Bless you for your love. Thank you for your prayers and generous support.
