Today is a special day for everyone in our parish. We
celebrate World Day of Prayer for
Vocations. We ask that we may be filled with joy and the Holy Spirit as we carry on
the mission of Jesus, our Good Shepherd. Let us pray for one another that we may be
strengthened in our Christian vocations as married and single people, priests, deacons,
and religious. May our youth listen to God’s call and be encouraged to respond
generously.
"My
sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life and they
shall never perish" (John 10:27-28). This is the most precious gift anyone could
receive, the gift of eternal life. It is promised; it is given; and it is received by
those who hear His voice.
The Archdiocesan Appeal accomplishes many things in the
Archdiocese, but it has one purpose. It supports the spreading of the Gospel and ensures
that many more will hear the promise of eternal life.
The Appeal has been underway for several weeks, and if you have
not made a pledge, please prayerfully consider how your participation can make a
difference in the lives of your neighbors – and perhaps in the life of someone you
kneel next to on Sunday. The Archdiocesan Development Appeal provides: parishes with
emergency funds; supports education; offers tuition support to elementary schools; gives
grants to all Archdiocesan high schools and makes many parish programs, such as marriage
preparation and Catholics Returning Home, possible. You might be surprised by how much is
accomplished by funds raised through this Appeal.
Brochures describing the programs supported by the Appeal and the
money they will receive are available today. Or you may visit the ADA website at www.archstl.org. Help our parish meet our goal by
making a pledge today!
