FRENCH VILLAGE, MO.

Picnic – 2010

It is that time again! Mark your calendar for Sunday, June 13, 2010 and share in the fun and fellowship of the St. Anne Picnic, French Village. We will be serving fried chicken, kettle beef and liver dumplings. The dinner tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children. There will be games for adults and children, Bingo, and a Live Band. The raffle prizes include $1,000 cash prize, a 19" color TV, a beautiful handmade quilt, and a $100 cash prize. The dinner and fun will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue until 5:00 p.m.

Thank you to all who have donated to the Country Store/Fancy Stand. We are still in need of handcrafted gifts, books, homemade jellies, jams, relishes, and gently used items.

Congratulations

Congratulations to the new members of the St. Anne Parish Council: Mary Lou Basler, Ruth Basler, Delores Brawley, Cecilia Govero, Matt Govero, Randy Govero, and Joe Mondello. Our first meeting will be on April 27th at 7:00 p.m.

Mark Byington

We are proud to announce that Mark Byington will be ordained to the Sacred Order of the Permanent Diaconate on Saturday, June 5th, at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis. There will be a reception for Mark in the Church Hall following the Mass at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.

This will be Mark’s first Mass as a Deacon. The Knights of Columbus will host a dinner in Mark’s honor at 7:30 p.m. at the Hall. There are extra invitations in the back of Church if you would like to attend our celebration. Write your name and the number of attendees on the invitation and drop it in the collection basket.

Annual Catholic Appeal

Please welcome our guests this weekend from the Annual Catholic Appeal who will speak to us about this year’s campaign.

Mother’s Day Cards

Mother’s Day is May 9th. What are you planning to do for your mother? Birthright of Hillsboro is holding their Mother’s Day Card fundraising project again this year. Consider honoring your mother or other special women in your life while supporting Birthright at the same time. Birthright offers free, confidential help in our community and is in need of funds to continue the work of saving unborn lives and easing the burdens of those faced with untimely pregnancy. Mother’s Day Cards can be picked up at the Church exit. An envelope for sending your donation to Birthright is included.

Thank you for your kind and generous help.

Women’s Retreat

The women of the First Congregational Church invite the ladies of our parish to attend a One Day Women’s Retreat at Trout Lodge on Thursday, May 6th. Please call Joan Tebbenhoff at 358-4273 for more info and car-pooling arrangements. Reservations must be made by April 29, 2010.

Safe Environment Program

April is child abuse prevention month. To keep our children safe, our parish complies with the Safe Environment Program. Any adult who works or volunteers with young people on a regular basis must attend a Protecting God’s Children workshop, agree to undergo a background check that is updated in even numbered years and sign the Code of Conduct. If you have any questions, please contact Char Gestring, our Parish Child Safety Coordinator.

Fond Farewell

It would be well for the parish to wish a fond farewell to Jim and Mary Clancy. They will be moving back to the city after many years of faithful service to St. Joseph’s Parish. Jim has been on the Finance Committee and worked with the food pantry. His wife Mary has been active in many endeavors especially around the altar and in decorating for the seasons. They will both be missed and we wish God speed to both of them.

Thank you Jim and Mary for all that you do.Father John & the Parish

A special thanks to our faithful volunteers who clean our Church every week. Please call the Parish office at 358-2112 if you are able to help our ladies. We could use two more teams for our Friday cleanings.
