School News

St. Joseph School will host a Spring Wine & Cheese Tasting Party with snacks and a Silent Auction on Saturday, May 2nd. Please mark your calendar for this year’s annual fundraiser – remember that your support is what keeps the doors open at St. Joseph School. These children are the seeds of our faith that will grow the Church for the next decade.

Some suggestions for support:

l. Cash donation for the purchase of an item for the Auction. You will be listed in the Program.

2. A donation of a "Summer Fun Item". There is a box in the back of Church and by the door to the Parish office.

3. Parish family baskets/packages are always welcome and can be brought to the school any time before April 26th. Thank you.Tickets are $20 and reservations and requests for specific seating arrangements can be made in advance at the school office. Bring a friend or two and plan to have a lovely evening at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Berry Road.

Picnic - 2009

Thank you to all who have donated toward the Country Store/Fancy Stand. We are still in need of donations.

Feast of Divine Mercy

Pope John Paul II declared today Divine Mercy Sunday in the year 2000. He instituted a plenary indulgence for those who participate in this devotion. To receive the graces of the plenary indulgence on Divine Mercy Sunday, the faithful must receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation on or before Divine Mercy Sunday; receive a worthy Communion; and pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet and be merciful toward others through words, actions and prayers.

St. Maurus Catholic Church in Biehle, Missouri will celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday today. Adoration and confessions are scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. and conclude with Mass at 3:00 p.m.

"Fireproof"

Immaculate Conception will host a movie night featuring "Fireproof – Never Leave Your Partner Behind" at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22nd. All families are invited to come and enjoy this excellent film that makes marriage-commitment real and attainable with Christ’s grace. Please call 573-431-2427 for details.

Run for the Roses!

Our Lady’s Inn is hosting a Kentucky Derby Party Fundraiser on May 2nd at 3:00 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary in New Melle. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for children. Price includes dinner and many other fun activities. For more info and to purchase tickets, please call Betsy Beauparlant 636-398-5375.

Operation Rice Bowl

Our PSR and elementary students have generously made a donation to the Rice Bowl project this Lent in the amount of $315.25. We thank everyone who contributed to this worthy cause, which helps those in need.

Welcome!

Let us welcome into our parish family the members of the RCIA who completed their preparation for the Paschal Feast at the Easter Vigil: Matthew Farr, Lynda Chand, Frederick Gower, and Karen Schnurbusch. May God continue to bless them on their spiritual journey of faith.

Mother’s Day Cards

Mother’s Day is May 10th. Birthright of Hillsboro is holding their Mother’s Day Card fundraising project again this year. Consider honoring your mother or other special women in your life while supporting Birthright at the same time. Birthright offers free, confidential help in our community and is in need of funds to continue the work of saving unborn lives and easing the burdens of those faced with untimely pregnancy. Mother’s Day Cards may be picked up at the table in the back of Church or at the Parish Office.

St. Joseph Cemetery

Please remember that all decorations must be removed from gravesites at St. Joseph Cemetery in order for the maintenance crew to "Keep Our Cemetery Beautiful". The general rule is "nothing on the ground". You may place decorations on the monument as long as they don’t interfere with grave maintenance. No glass or metal containers are allowed in the cemetery. The exception to the rule is that on the holidays of Memorial Day,

July 4th, and Labor Day decorations may be placed on the graves and left there for a period of one week after the holiday.

St. Paul Media Scholarship

A scholarship fund of $1,500 has been established to recognize a high school student who embodies the spirit of St. Paul. Any current Catholic high school student may apply for this scholarship by preparing a multi-media presentation (such as a: movie, music video, podcast, website, etc.) which shows how they are able to evangelize within the culture of communications. For details, please call 314-965-3512.

St. Joseph Gift Shop

The Gift Shop is open before and after the 10:00 a.m. Mass every Sunday
