THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER

How could the disciples have been so blind! They walked down the street and listened to Jesus, but they could not even tell it was him! Perhaps it was his glorified, post-resurrected body, or perhaps they were so overcome by the events of the past days that they could not bring themselves to see the truth. But it was not until they invited Christ in and he broke bread for them that they saw who he was. How often do we fail to see Jesus in those around us? Like the old woman in the nursing home not far from where you live. Have we invited her into out heart? Or the rebellious teenager or young single mother: Have we invited them into our home? Or what of the person with HIV/Aids or the old man who is always complaining about life? Have we invited them into our lives. Until we do, we will fail to see Jesus in them. Jesus, who awaits us in the breaking of the bread!

Last Sunday thirteen of our parish youngsters received their First Holy Communion at the 10:00 a.m. Mass. They are: Byron Allen, Collin Black, Marissa Bonney, Chase Busenbark, Holly Camp, Alex Finley, Joshua Gloriod, Jordan Murphey, Charlyn Ortmann, Jordyn Weiss, Billy Whitehead, Adam Williamson and Andrew Williamson.

Congratulations to the children and their families and a big thank you to all who helped prepare the children for this special day. Please remember them in your prayers.

KENRICK GLENNON DAYS

Once again, preparation for Kenrick-Glennon Days are underway. For the past three years, Kenrick-Glennon Days have been a huge success. Over 260 young men from 6th grade through high school have spent time having fun, growing in faith and inquiring about their vocation with seminarians and priests from the Archdiocese of St. Louis. It is our hope that this year’s camp will be an even greater success!

  • The first summer camp for 6th and 7th graders of the 2002/2003 school year- Saturday, June 8 through Monday, June 10, 2002.

  • The second camp, for 6th and 7th graders of the 2002/2003 school year – Monday, June 10th through Wednesday, June 12, 2002.

  • The third camp, for 8th and 9th graders of the 2002/2003 school year is scheduled for Thursday, June 13th through Saturday, June 15, 2002.

  • The Office of Vocations will again offer a week long program for high school men (sophomore through senior year) to work as junior counselors at Kenrick-Glennon Days. The camps are scheduled from Saturday, June 8 through Saturday, June 15, 2002. June 7, 2002 is registration and orientation for the junior counselors.
