TO CHRIST’S FAITHUL OF THE ARCHDIOCESE OF ST. LOUIS:

Dear brothers and sisters I Christ,

Under the direction of Cardinal Joseph Ritter, Regina Cleri was established as a residence for retired and infirm priests of the Archdiocese of Saint Louis.  It provides an essential service to our priests who give their lives to the Church.

I express my deepest gratitude for your consistently generous support of our retired and infirm priests, especially through the annual Easter Offering, which is taken up in all our parishes.  This special offering, along with the support of the Annual Catholic Appeal, makes it possible for us to maintain Regina Cleri as a residence for our priests in retirement.

On next Sunday, April 16, 2006 the annual Easter Collection for Regina Cleri will be taken up throughout the Archdiocese.  I thank you in anticipation, knowing that your generosity will truly make a difference for our retired and infirm priests.

Asking God’s blessing upon you and your homes, I remain

Yours devotedly in Christ,
(Most Rev.) Raymond L. Burke
Archbishop of St. Louis

We will have our annual Easter Egg Hunt.  All are invited.   Refreshments will be served downstairs.

The storm on Sunday, April 2nd caused some damage to the roof. An adjuster, from the Archdiocese will look at the damage.  A cedar tree fell and rolled over one of the older tombstones.  It was destroyed. R.I.P.

Daylight savings time is here!  The mass schedule for Saturday evening has changed.  Please note that Saturday, April 8th is the return of the summer schedule, 5:15p.m. Mass.

FESTIVAL 2006

The St. Joseph Festival will be held on May 21st, 2006.   This year we are concentrating on the Dinner and Bingo. “Our Now Famous” Best Fried Chicken in the County will be served along with Kettle Beef.  Be sure to start talking about it with your friends and families.  We want a large crowd because this is one of our best fundraisers. It will take a little extra work to let people know about the new date.

We will feature live music with “ COUNTRY GOLD” led by Joe Mondello.  Other favorites such as the  Beer Wagon, Poker Stand, and the Raffle are available for your enjoyment.

You will soon be receiving your packets.  We need to sell as many raffle tickets as possible.  We can not mail tickets through the postal system, so this makes your efforts more appreciated and necessary.

A POT LUCK DINNER will be held on Tuesday, April 11 at 5:45p.m. in the Church Hall. All parents of the school children are invited.  After dinner, parents are invited to their child’s classroom to view various presidential projects and participate in a competitive activity.

We only have 32 days left in this school year.

The school has a new website:  go to www.saintjosephelem.com.

Mineral Area College Children’s Theatre is coming to the school on Thursday, April 20th at 10:00a.m.  They will be performing the “Bremintown Musicians” a Grimm Brothers’ fairy tale.

CHILDREN’S ENVELOPES

A young lady from St. Anne parish, at her request has been using her weekly envelope for some time.  Now, some of the children of St. Joseph School use weekly envelopes. We have many young people in our parish. Wouldn’t it be nice if all of our youth   contributed not only their time and talent but a little of their treasure to their parish. Starting to share now will develop good habits for their future. We have provided envelopes especially for youth and if you would like your child/children to participate they may be picked up in the back of Church.

It is a delight to see good things happen. Thank you young lady for starting a tradition!!  God Bless.

Regular meeting April 24th.at 6:30p.m. in the Church Hall.

Our Lady’s Sodality will have their corporate communion on Monday, April 10th at the morning Mass.  Please join us for breakfast.

All members will meet at Homestead Restaurant on April 18th at noon.   Let us enjoy lunch together and celebrate our one year anniversary.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

The Holy Land continues to be the scene of a conflict which has lasted for decades and deprives Catholic communities and institutions of adequate means to maintain and promote religious, humanitarian and cultural activities. This most distressing situation leads to poverty and unemployment, with serious consequences for families and for the entire population.  It also increases the disturbing phenomenon of the constant exodus of Christians from the Holy Land.

The presence of the Christians in the Holy Land is more necessary than ever for the peaceful future of the area.  The annual GOOD FIRDAY COLLECTION to support the Christian presence and the sacred shrines in the Holy Land will be taken up again this year on the day when we celebrate Our Lord’s Passion and Death.  I ask you to be generous to the collection which is so vital to maintaining the Christian presence in the Holy Land.

During the celebration of the Lord’s Passion on Good Friday, April 14th., this collection will be taken up in all of the parishes throughout the Archdiocese.  I thank you, in advance, for your support for this annual appeal.

Asking God’s blessing on you and your homes, I remain

Sincerely yours in Christ,

(Most Rev.) Raymond L. Burke\
Archbishop of St. Louis
