ST.
ANNE CHURCH,
FRENCH VILLAGE, MO.
An all parish
picnic meeting will be on April 18th immediately following Mass. All
parishioners are invited to attend.
RELICS OF CHRISTS PASSION
The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis will host relics of
Christs (Passion), on Saturday, April 3, and Sunday, April 4, as part of the
observance of Palm (Passion) Sunday and the opening of Holy Week, the most solemn period
in the Churchs liturgical year. Arranged with the cooperation of the Apostolate for
Holy Relics, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving Christian relics and
promoting their devotional veneration. The display at the Cathedral Basilica will include
relics of the True Cross, the Column of the Flagellation, the Crown of Thorns, the Burial
Shroud, the Table of the Last Supper, and St. Longinus (traditionally held to be the
soldier who thrust the lance into Christs side, and who subsequently converted to
Christianity and was martyred). Also included in the collection are an effigy of the Veil
of Veronica and a replica of a nail used in the Crucifixion, both issued by the Vatican.
The relics will be displayed beginning on April 3, following the 8:00a.m. Mass and
continuing until the conclusion of 5:00p.m. Mass: and again on April 4, also following the
8:00a.m. Mass. The display will conclude on Sunday evening with a 7:30p.m. celebration of
Evening Prayer, at which Archbishop Burke will preside, and which will include a
procession with the veneration of the relics. All are warmly invited and encouraged to
take advantage of the rare opportunity to encounter and meditate on the mystery of
Christs Passion, through the Churchs tradition of holy relics.
The Daughters of Isabella will hold their regular meeting on
Monday, April 12th at 7:00p.m. The rosary will begin at 6:45p.m. Cake will be
served for those birthdays from January through April. A 10 minute informational tape will
be viewed during refreshment time.
Every day young families in the Holy Land try to live Christian
lives as you do. These Christians living where Christ walked and taught, lived and died,
still live in a land of war, death and destruction.
The work of the Franciscan Friars for these native Christians, and
the poor (and the pilgrims who come to visit)
depends greatly on your generous
support.
Please be generous as you can to the people of the Holy Land and
the Friars who preserve the Shrines and Holy Places. The annual Collection for the Holy
Land Mission will be taken up at the Good Friday Services.
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
Starting on Friday, April 16th the Blessed
Sacrament will be exposed beginning at 6:00p.m. The rosary will be said at 7:00p.m. All
are invited to come and share this time with Jesus. Please note that we will not have the
Holy Hour on Sunday evening.
