The Knights of Columbus have done it again! They held their annual awards breakfast on Palm Sunday at Roseners Restaurant.  At the breakfast they presented Father John with a check in the amount of $6,147.00.  The proceeds of their Lenten Fish Fry’s go to the support of St. Joseph School.

The Knights would like to thank all the people who supported the Fish Fry’s.  The people that came to enjoy the meal and the fellowship, the parents and friends that brought desserts and the people that stayed to help clean up. If someone has not been mentioned, they would also like to thank them.

Today we will have our annual “BIG EASTER EGG HUNT”.  Prizes and refreshments will be served in the church basement.  Everyone is invited.

 OUR LADY’S SODALITY

All Catholic women of St. Anne and St. Joseph that are over the age of 18 is invited to attend the FIRST meeting of OUR LADY SODALITY in St. Joseph Church Hall on Monday, April 4th at 7:00p.m.  Our goal is to dedicate us to Our Lady, and work in unity and peace for the betterment of the parishes and school.  With God as our Captain and Our Lady as our guide, our goal should not be hard to attain.  Refreshments will be served.  Please come!

I’d like to say a word about next weeks’ second collection, which supports missions here in the United States.  There are many places in America – Appalachia, the Deep South, the Southwest, the Rocky Mountain states – where the Catholic Church struggles just to keep parishes open and to educate children in the faith.  Some dioceses are terribly short of priests, sisters, and the money needed to run parishes.  We will be taking up the Catholic Home Missions Appeal in our second collection next week to strengthen the Church here at home.  Please plan to give generously to assist fellow Catholics in America.

We still have some ladies that have not renewed their Daughter of Isabella dues for the year 2005. You may send your dues to St. Joseph Church or Dorothy Gouin at 418 N. Long St., Bonne Terre, Mo. 63628

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

The Exultet, or Easter Proclamation which is sung each Easter during the Vigil Mass, proclaims: “The power of the holy night dispels all evil, washes guilt away, restores lost innocence, brings mourners joy; it casts out hatred, brings peace and humbles earthly pride.  Night truly blessed when heaven is wedded to earth and man is reconciled with God.”

At Easter, the faithful are invited to renew their baptismal promises to reject sin, Satan and his works and to believe in the Blessed Trinity, while the newly initiated experience a renewal of heart and soul by washing away of original sin and the infusion of sanctifying grace through the Sacrament of Baptism.  I extend a welcome to those who enter the household of faith in the Catholic Church.   We your brothers and sisters in the Lord – offer you our support as you surrender your lives to our Risen Lord and allow Him the first place in your lives.

May the upcoming days of the Easter Season be filled with peace and joy as we proclaim during the Easter liturgies with renewed hearts; “Giving thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His mercy endures forever” (Ps. 118:1).

Devotedly yours in Christ,

(Most Rev.) Raymond L. Burke

Archbishop of Saint Louis
